Handrail crashes

One of the worst is when your skis fall off while you are on the rail, say a double or quad, and you fly off and land your hip first on concrete stairs. And your friend doesn't turn the camera on to capture it.

Or just landing on the staircase side of a narrow, steep stairset. That has never happened completely to me, though it almost did once.

And if your not smart enough to check for the little rivets in the handrail that the city puts in to stop kids like us. Those ones end in an unusually large amount of pain for some reason.

some of my worst falls have been off of urbans. i always eat shit at first cuz i can never judge the jump construction/speed without hitting it.

ya there is ussually no snow so ur landing on either concret, stairs, a metal rail or if your luck a little bit of snow

Watch any Grenade video, and tell me if they hurt. Dude flips and nails his ass on the rail, cut to a shot of his entire asscrack and lower back with a bruise at least 6 inches wide. Sacking yourself, smashing your head on concrete, metal... of course they dont hurt.

It also hurts when you don't fully get on the rail, slip off to have your ribs smack the rail and your body just kind of dangles on it.

Its like tanya harding bashing the inside of your knee with a metal pipe sometimes

i'd rather fall on a major booter then some handrails

yeah or getting your ski caught in a supporting beam when you dont have a lot of speed so your ski doesnt come off...

not fun having your leg in that position

This thread is to encourage amature skiers to go out and try new things.. Like handrails!

You'll be fine! Just don't forget serious injury and/or death!

ironically that's why those nubs are there. That way the city can't be held liable for folks getting hurt while trying to slide/grind the rail.

I wasn't sliding the rail Judge, I swear! I just happened to have ski clothing/equipment on and it looke like i was. I actually just FELL down the stairs and broke my legs and destroyed my face/teeth. Because I was trying to grab onto the railing but the nubs made it hard to grab and my hand slipped off.

i have done more handrails than most of the people who have replied and i have never had a bad fall. usually you just land on ur skis on the stairs. every once in a while you hit a kink and go flying, but that is the worst that will happen unless you are really unlucky

all i can say. i still do rails, you just have to be carefull

early season rails are the sketch. for one, you have not skiied, and two there is no snow anywhere to xcushion your fall. My first urban ever was this summer. I had no real rail skills, Iand I was just diong that under peer pressure. my first hit i go up our make shift plywood jump and onto the rail. I see myself on the rail and I am 50-50ing it. what the fuck, I froze up. I calmly sit down on the rail as I move down its metal surface. i just ass slide the whole thing and cme out of it clean. I latewr saw the video which is now taped over (shit) and I was square on the rail sitting down, with my legs up over my waist.
