Handle for T3i?

Anyone know of a good handle for the T3i for follow cams?

Im going up to the mtn this weekend and its going to be my first time filming and i want a handle for some follow cams and was wondering what you guys had and if you liked em?

also what lens do you guys usually use when you do follow cams? i was thinking i might use my Tamron 17-50?

any advice on what to use is greatly appreciated!

The 17-50 works great for follow cams, but I definitely wouldn't use a handle (assuming you mean a cam caddie/x grip thing) with a T3i. I guess it could work if you want to be able to get really low to the ground, or just for a better grip, but its not going to make your shots any smoother.

Just checked, and without a mic my t2i actually fits in my old opteka x grip, but it feels really sketchy and the thing bends a little bit, from the weight (or maybe just because the shitty quality)

I woudln't, but using a handle probably wouldn't do much. It's still going to be handheld and shaky, its not like the handle will stabilize it. But if you want to be able to hold it form the top than sure.

I've been thinking about making a handle/fig rig sort of thing, saves space and they're decent cause they have 2 anchor points.

Check out can caddie, easy handle... I can list more if your interested, handles like these are mostly made for skating though to let you get the low fish eye shots, DIY handle is a cheap alternative but can be sort of difficult

this. Also, I really don't understand why people would think a cam caddie thing would stabilize it at all, its literally just a little handle so you can hold it from a different position.

Idk i dont really want a glide cam im not that serious about filming yet.

Also im not really looking for something to stabalize it i just want somthing for a better grip on it.

Can u send me a link to the caddie cam you were talking about

wrong. I made a DIY fig rig out of some PVC piping for like $5 and it works wonders. Sure its nothing like a glide cam but compared to handheld it is great. do this if you are looking for something cheap but effective

At 17mm without breaking the bank and getting good stabilization I would look into getting a nice LCD viewfinder and a shoulder rig. It will keep your shots more steady because there is three contact points ( both hands and your shoulder) apart from that if you have the money to spend just get a glidecam. I would only use a handle when I film fisheye.

It's more stable than handheld and its not very practical for follow cams if you want a higher angle

Cam caddies are basically designed for skateboarding where they want the lowest angle possible I would just recommend buying a cheap tripod and holding it by the two legs in the back, it's a alright angle and probably more stable than a handle

I use the Opteka X-Grip MK 2. It's aluminum so it's a ton more stable. It also makes it really easy to hold for stationaries too.

99% of the time I was holding from the bottom/vertical beam and that works very well. But with two hands the follow cam seems very sturdy, probably the best handle you can get without going for the glidecam.

Ya i think i might get it but i wanna see a video of it on the mtn before i do.

So do you have a video of you using it on the mtn?
