Hakuba in January

Hey folks,

I will be heading to the land of the rising sun in January for a short stint from work. I'll be skiing in the Hakuba valley from the 17th-27th of January and am looking for suggestions for the area.

Suggestions include:

food in the area,

Favorite areas you skied

Touring routes you enjoyed/suggestions for guides as I will be by myself for all but three days

Check out Cortina. It's the smallest of the Hakuba resorts but spacing in the trees is perfection and there are some solid and easily accessible side country off the back ridge. I'd also check out Myoko Kogen for a few days. A bit quieter, and better for that reason.
