Guitarists Help Me!

Im tryingto teach myself how to play the guitar and im trying to learn some chords and I found this diagram.

How do I tell what fret and what string its talking about? This would be a real help if I understood it soplease try and explain it for me

the diagram shows the first 5 freats of the fret board. the top of the diagram shows the first fret and goes to the 5th. now the left line is your E string and it goes to the right E A D G B e. The numbers you see on the frets corresponds with your finger. the number one is your index finger 2 is your middle finger and so on. when you see an X on the top of the string that means to not strum that string.

The furthest string to the left on diagrams is the low E string. The furthest to the right the high E.

These chords are all at the nut. If they arent at the nut there are roman numerals indicating the first fret shown.
