I have some new skis and the edges are very sharp on them... i got a snowboard file from a buddy and will that work to grind them down? otherwise what is the best way to grind down the edges?

no of course not. you can absolutly NEVER use a snowboard tool and skis. haha of course itll work. any file will. hell if your feeling ghetto use a rock.

yea doing like a hardcore detuning you might want to do like a negative side level and a 5 or 6 base level. if thats posible. and if you have the file holder then a panser file might do the trick.

I just file and then gummi it to a nice smooth round edge. not really an edge, more of a curve. I like to detune the whole ski, I can still hole somewhat of an edge but I can spin it around too, and in pow it doesnt really effect me. (06 fujis)

just detune it at a 45 * angle underneth the whole binding, and you could use a rock if you really wanted to =^)

why would you do that? how often do you slide anywhere but underfoot? Just de-tune them underfoot, where the rails would be. Kids are silly these days. round off your whole ski, then say it doesn't effect your ski... yeah....

Well for one butters seem to work a little easier, as well as nose presses and tail presses. if a box is wide it couldnt help either. You are ignorant and pathetic to only slide underfoot. I'm sorry, but you just suck at skiing

i dont detune any where but under foot and i do alot of nose and tail presses.

i would rather have an edge for butters, but thats kind of a prefference thing too. but i ski outside of the park almost as much as im in the park. i might consider more detuning if i had a pair of skis just for park.

Two centimetes before and after underfoot, with a soft stone, then smooth those out for about 1cm past with a soft stone

as in whetstones, not pebbles or anything

this way it will be smooth, and slide well

does it matter that much?

just took a metal file and just made my edges rounded underfoot and i can ski whole mountain and slide wood and shit

just leave them how they are i did rails on my brand new skis first day and did not catch once plus its nice too have sharp edges for turning once a while
