Great places to ski in the east?

No he's not, the east might not be as good as some places out west, but there is still some awesome stuff to ski out here... -K to you sure... To the OP, it depends where you live from a logistics POV, but I'd recommend Stowe, Sugarbush, Cannon, Jay Peak, Wildcat, and Sugarbush... Some sleeper places include Burke, Smugglers Notch, and Saddleback.

I would not consider saddleback a sleeper place, or at least it won't be soon. The parks have gotten better and better over the years, and the skiing is fantastic.

jay peak is good, so is sunday river- its not really steeps more than its tight trees and glades- i ski loon and theres about a 20 minute hike to trail called black mountain- its basically just an open glade that goes forever, lots of rocks and pillows to drop off and plenty of places to build kickers- theres also the knob at loon which has a couple trails with tons of huge rocks to jump- it aint too difficult but its fun as hell

i am biased because i love cannon but i would say cannon is the best in new hampshire and then for vt there are plenty to chose from; jay, mad river, sugarbush, stowe, burke and smugglers all have great trees and steeps. hope this helps
