Grandmas missing her pain meds

I'd like to apologize in advance for the length of this, but I believe every detail is vital for NS to understand, and help me out.

On the way to Stevens pass yesterday, I stopped by the pharmacy to pick up my grandmas meds that she gets from medicare every month. When I got back from the mountain, I gave her the meds, and within 30 minutes she called me, and bitched me out for stealing her oxy's.

I went with a buddy who I've known for a long time.. Him and his twin brother both have addictive personalities and have had problems with Rx pain killers in the past.

Recently one of the brothers broke his hand, and when he asked the doc for stronger pain killers, the doc said no. (I assume his mother confronted the doctor, away from the patients room, to explain his past with pain killers)

He was pretty upset about it, and would take out his anger out on me, up until yesterday.. the day that 40 oxy pills (Vicodin) went missing.

Actually yesterday was the nicest he has been to me in months, and i find it impossible to believe considering he quit smoking pot 2 days ago after smoking daily for about 5 years.

that wasn't the only suspicious behavior that I noticed. His brother, the one I was skiing with, was the only one that knew where I put those meds (in my ski bag with the rest of my shit) he had been texting his bro about something but wouldn't tell me what. Also, when I went over to their crib to kick it after skiing he told me to take my ski bag from out his car and bring it into his crib. I said "No, what's the point?" He couldn't think of a reason and I assumed it was just because my brother was picking me up soon. so I said "oh word, so I could grab my gear and bounce when my bro gets here." He agreed, and I was to positive to assume he would even consider taking them.

He also had to convince me to come hang out after skiing....

Him and his bro have joked abut taking them in the past, but they also could have been 100% serious about it.

here is the evidence I have.

-The bag containing the pills was open.

-There were 3 bags, each bag contained 2 bottles, each bottle had something different in it.

-There were 6 slips, each one with a different prescription info sticker on them.

-One of the slips was missing a sticker with all the info.

-The only bottle missing was the one with Vicodin.

-I have the empty slip and the bag the bottle was in, in a zip-lock bag as hard evidence.

I really don't know what to do next. I thought about contacting the authorities because if they did indeed do the deed, than i could care less if they get charged with a felony and I never see them again. for all we know they may have just put my grandmother in her grave, she's going to have a gnarly come down from it and may not survive the fall.

I haven't yet talked to them about it and I haven't hinted that anything is wrong yet.

I've talked to mutual friends though who aren't as good of friends with them, and everyone I told the story to concluded it was them.

My grandmother called the pharmacist to confirm that the oxy's were indeed in the prescription and it was in fact there.

so NS, what's my next move?

How should I get these guys to fess up?
 
they wen't out of their way to cover their tracks... what makes you think they'll admit anything?

they are also extremely deceptive, proud, and they have 0 respect for anyone but themselves.
 
man, that's fucked. i'd bet damn near anything that they took them. there's nothing that will surprise me when it comes to the lengths people will go to to feed an opiate addiction. shit's cray. i'd almost guarantee it.

if you see them and their pupils are pinned as a mother fucker, then they're high as fuck. make it a point to see them before the pills run out. also, if they're sick as fuck in a day or two, guess what?!? dope sick!

you could probably contact the authorities. there should be finger prints all over the bag. although i don't know if the authorities will bother with finger printing the bag.

sorry to hear about this bro. you need to cut your ties with these dudes.

 
tell them your g'ma needs her meds, there is no one else that even knows about them so you have 100% proof they stole them, surrender them now or you call the cops, then call the cops in front of them
 
idk why pain killer don't have an effect on me. I was on morphine RX for over 2 months after a head injury. stop taking them and was fine i still have about 20 of them left and another 40 oxy. I'm saving them for when i dislocate my shoulder/bad injury from skiing, which happens quite a lot.
 
What scumbags. Things to look out for next time you see them are pinned pupils and a scratchy/deeper voice. Those are telltale signs that someone is high on opiates. Id call the cops right now on them. Poor grandma.
 
Irrelevant but oxy is not Vicodin, they could have been Percocet. Hydrocodone is Vic's. I know from experience some people will do literally anything to get there hands on em. Call the police and now, 2 junkies can blow threw a mothers script in litterally a day or 2. I feel bad for you bro it hurts even more when it's your "friends". My 6th grade English teacher did this to my grandma back in 01 broke into my grandmas home. They were neighbors, she called the cops and the next day he was arrested in front of his class. Needless to say his life is fucked now
 
Some friends they are. All I can think of is to confront them and tell them that they are the only one's that you've been around since the meds went missing. Sounds like a tough situation.
 
Honestly I think you should probably find very substantial proof that they took them, IE maybe voice record a conversation where you can get them to fess up, then contact the police.
 
Dam dude, sounds like these kids need to get checkedmy grandma is prescribed morphine due to a back injury a couple years ago and obviously cannot refill it before the due time prescribed by the doctor. Anyway some of the nurse assistants got caught stealing the morphine, making it impossible for my grandma to get her medication when she needed it. Shits fucked, but those kids will get theirs in one way or another...

Side note

Fuck prescription drugs. My best friend passed away because he got into his grandmother's safe where she kept her pain medication.

 
By the time you get the cops involved and they go talk to him, all of the pills will be gone. Take care of it yourself and confront them about it with some backup with you. Pretty self explanatory

i'm biased here because i've recently been dealing with the umpteenth episode of my friend circe's resident opiate junkie scumbags.. pair of brothers too, who have turned from great if a little retarded kids into conniving conscience-less piece of shit. they've stolen pills from friends' parents, stolen checks, stolen money..

and i don't know if it's a chemical effect the pills have or just the junkie personality, but those dudes are so set in their lies i think they half believe them themselves....

i'm sorry to hear your story man because i think your friends are obviously the culprits. IMO its important to react extremely aggressively because with junkies if you give an inch they take a mile...... get some solid evidence and fuckin pin em man

i was selling them in bulk for years and karma fucking raped me with CPCS 3

moral of this: the parents should have called the cops on me

first of all, don't listen to the kid before me and call the cops. I'd say give them one chance to admit to it, but then call the cops, if they do not admit it. They obviously did it, and you both know it, but it's a felony charge, so remind them what they got themselves into. Ask for them back, whatever is left, and then never talk to them again.

Don't pick up prescriptions with anyone else in your presence ever. As someone who has a number of desired prescriptions to their name, people will do what they can to get what you have, no matter the mentality behind it. They stole it, they are assholes, they are addicts, and they deserve punishment. But realize that something as petty as this could turn very serious for them, and ruin their life, which at such a stupid point in their lives is critical.

Be straight about it to them, don't let them make up alibis or excuses. They knew what they were getting themselves into, and if they don't want to accept the fact they did the dirty, they can pay for the consequences that come with it.

I wish you the best of luck. No matter whether its oxy, vicodin or any other opiates, it's a greedy industry and will ruin lives at any angle.

 
Your friends joked about stealing your grandmas Oxy's, you don't really trust them, have had problems with pain killers in the past, but you let the one know where you had them stashed and just left them in your ski bag?

I mean I'm down for trying to trust people and all but that seems like a really awful idea. Where was the ski bag? Locked in a car or just chillin in the lodge?

Why did you need to pick the prescriptions on the way to the mountain?

Learn something from this for the future. It's very unlikely that they will simply admit to it. I mean it's a shitty situation but if that's how everything went down you set yourself up for some problems.

I'm not even trying to be a dick but I'm just wondering how the situation played out. Why you needed to get them in the morning would let somebody who you don't trust and might be a junkie know where they are etc.

 
hey...i was at stevens yesterday too. get those kids cause thats fucked up! If you wanna confront him i'd help corner him at Stevens with you
 
dude just take there cell phones and find the messages from the little brother to the older one then call the cops. u have evidence then
 
the problem is that most docs and pharmacies are very hesitant to rewrite pain killer scripts due to the crack down that the dea has taken on docs since the whole oxy explosion of the early to mid 2000's. the doc might not do it. the only thing she has going for her is she's old.
 
yeah but there's no way he's getting these pills back from these kids before her next script is ready to be picked up. So either wait until her next script, or take her in and she can request more from the doc to tie her over in the meantime. At the very least they'd be willing to give her Zipsor--or some other non-narcotic pain killer, or administer something narcotic on site.

 
You do realize that's not very easy to do with painkillers right?

I mean it depends on the situation but it's not like they stole his grandmas skin cream or something.
 
Docs do not refill these it's super regulated the chances are slim to none, even if you called the cops and filled a report the doc could simply say no in fear of it comming back on them. At least hear in NY every script is marked with serial numbers and a stamp which is specifically made for your doc, then when you fill it the pharm has to confirm the script by call with your doc. PK's are heroin made by doctors and they know it so they have to hardcore regulate scripts
 
I confronted them today. I talked to them one at a time face to face, and I read them as best I could and to me they seemed 100% innocent and sober.

I then went to the pharmacy to make sure there was no error.

The Pharmacist said that they did NOT give me the pain killers the day prior.

I then confronted my grandma after bringing her the pain killers that they forgot to give me yesterday and asked her if she even called the pharmacy at all, she told me that she did not, and the reason she lied was to try to get me into admitting it. She even offered to let me have 20 of the 40 pills yesterday, to get me to fess up.

My grandma hadn't used the stuff for a couple days and she went from a sweet old lady, to a scary paranoid junkie. I know that's no way to talk about your grandparents, but I almost threw away a perfectly okay friendship just because my grandma led me to believe that her pills were stolen. I put it all together and it seemed very likely that they did steel the pills, but in the end, the call to the pharmacy was never actually made, and for all I know the bag wasn't open, that's just what my grandma said as well... She just wanted her oxys badly.

I really want to get my grandma into marijuana edibles, and slowly get her off them percs.
 
Damn dude, its great you didnt just go to the cops and still possibly ruin their futures.

I would just stop hanging out with them, and tell them until they clean their shit up to stay the fuck out of your life.
 
At first I was going to say call the cops cause a jail cell is a great place to get a wake up call.

Now that I read the whole thread try to get your grandma on edibles or tincture.
 
OP bears some responsibility for this. It sounds like he specifically has known pharm heads give him rides to the pharmacy to pick up his grandmas meds.

It sounds sketchy as fuck to begin with and like a made up story but OP's behavior is basically daring these kids to jack his grandma's pills.

I'm hardly defending them but I do think OP basically dangled them under the kids noses. And if you do that along with being highly gullible as he sounds shit will get stolen.

A few vikes isn't that big a deal you should be able to buy some pretty cheap. Its not like they are oxy contin 80s. Live and learn.

This isn't a call the cops situation. Definitely not something you snitch to 5-0 over. You being serious? Someone should kick the fucking shit out of you if you'd call cops over something like this.

And OP probably can't beat up both of them.

The kids might be scumbags but OP basically dared them to do this. Yeah, I am sure you can trust your friends to not steal money from you. And I'm sure even if they are broke they won't. BUT if one of them doesn't have a pot to piss in and you are rich and you leave a stack of $10,000 on the table when you go to take a piss you are tempting fate. Even the best and most honest person in the world might grab 1 c note and figure you won't notice. And plenty would take the 10k and peace the fuck out.

Could you imagine everybody jumping on a bandwagon about murder? That is why the death penalty is flawed. Innocent people are sometimes viewed as "obviously" guilty...
