Grabbing Switch spins

Dear NS,

Anyone has a good tip to grab switch spins...?

Id like to get a nice switch 3/5 with a tail/blunt grab but can never seem to grab switch spins...

Normally on my spins i spin left and grab with the right hand.

So would i if i throw a switch spin (looking over left shoulder/spinning left) grab with my left hand...?

Any tips/tricks etc are welcome!

grabbing lead tail (spin left, grab left) always seemed easier to me. you turn your shoulders that way anyway and can spot your landing way sooner. i'll usually wait until after the first 180 to reach for tail just to be safe. nothing worse than catching an edge on the lip because you're thinking about your grab too early.

Try grabbing mute or critical first. If you're spinning left either switch or forward, grabbing one of those with your right hand will bring your shoulder into the rotation, plus it centers your mass for a balanced spin and is easy to spot the landing. Once you get the feel for those grabs, you will be on the way to having the timing down for other grabs.

For any tail grab, first do a couple forward spins with those. Then start just doing slow switch 180s with various tail/blunt variations to get a feel for the switch take off with the grab, and the switch 1 makes it easier to see your tails in the air.

Another thing to try: completing a switch spin, then grabbing before you land, when you are finished spinning. This might work better with switch 5s than switch 3s, but for me at least it's an easy way to work a grab into any rotation

Thnx for the tips man :)! I can indeed already do a switch mute 3 or 5 but cant seem to figure out how to grab switch tails so ill try your suggestions! Thing about grabbing after completing the spin though is i ski indoors atm so the airtime is not that long on the jumps here... i will still try it this afternoon though
