So first off I'm a pretty decent skier, I can throw 3s over 30 foot tables (bigegst our hill has) And i can tuck up and get a safety most of the time, but when i try and cross my left ski over and go for a mute grab i just end up barely overrlapping my skis and missing even the safety... advice?

tramps are good for this, i just practice straight airing and bringing my knees up and crossing my feet and then grabbing, and then do that with spins and rodeos and everything and it seems to work pretty good for me.

KNEES TO CHEST NOT HEELS TO BUM . is the most common mistake
try putting your gear on. Lay on the floor and try it. This will help muscle memory. Or standing up with a ski pole in you left hand for balance try pulling you left foot up, keeping your vision up and grabbing.
Know where your ski is so you dont have to look for it to grab.

legit. thanks turpentine (slightly more badass than turpin, sounds like you could kill anybody with one smell of you legitimacy)

I had this same problem last year...I could only reach down for safety grabs and was like wtf why cant i get mute so i asked my friend who is a good skier and he just said u gotta keep going for them and eventually u will get it...so that whole day i tried mutes and finally got em and now i can get em pretty much every time, just dont give up and focus on the grab if u are secure with spins

Is it bad to go right into tweaked mute? cuz after like 3 months on my tramp i got so good at them they just go straight to tweaked is this a bad habit?

it can be kind of bad, because it leaves your body with not as much to slow down or open the trick with. tweeking is great if it comes after you show you have good controle and alot of people dont untweek before letting go of the grab which not as sweet in my eyes.
