set your spin on takeoff, don't rely on just turning your head and shoulders in the air, when you grab you're probably ceasing to look over your shoulder

 
dont look at your grab, always look where you're going. grabbing will slow your spin down a little, so it could be taht you're just completley staliing it out

you can look at grab,

some will slow down rotation since they will spread your body out,

just make sure you ahve set rotation completly beofre reaching for grab

dont consentrate on the grab.. just do it, as soon as you turn your attention from the spin you loose everything

if you spin left, grabbing with left arm for a safety makes it a lot easier
