Got myself the Cal Carson vishnus but concerned about length

Pretty stoked on the recent purchase but a little worried about the size after reading the numerous threads on NS. I'm 6'0 150 lbs and got the 183's because I ride some arv 184's currently. But after everyone saying that the 189s can help with stability on the wets for someone around my size I'm thinking maybe I should've sized up? Any insight would be appreciated, sorry for another vishnu thread..

You've gotta be kidding me OP, how many times do we gotta tell you... get 189s!!

Nah, stick with the 183, I'm 6'3 180 and sometimes the 189 can be a little much in tight spaces, but I'm on the wides.

Just because a bunch of idiots online say "big skis big steez" (which is totally true) doesn't mean you need to put yourself in a tough spot with skis you can't take full advantage of.

I'm about the same height, maybe 15 pounds heavier, but I ride 183s currently (bought them before the 189s came out) and they're fine for me. I reckon they'll feel shorter than your armadas because of their rise and light weight. I think it also depends on how you ski. If you like skiing fast and hitting larger jumps than 189 might be a better option. 183 is probably fine though

word thanks for the help

When I first moved to Utah I skied 178 Volkl Gotamas because I didn't have anything else. They worked just fine, and I've also ridden a Jskis vacation 180 before which was a tiny stick of a butter in the best possible way. If I'm doing big mountain stuff, I prefer 190 plus, but if I was doing any park stuff, I'd go shorter for sure, way easier to learn tricks on short skis than on big skis.

dude they're literally the perfect length for you!

don't listen to mouthbreathers on NS repeating stuff, sometimes joking sometimes not. those skis are made to be playful and forgiving, that's why they're designed how they are. they didn't make them soft and rocker-y so that you could have decorative length on them

you have, no joke, the exact right size. you're 1000% good to go

neither did the 100 other kids you shit on for having short skis lol

vishnu wets are probably the only ski that don’t look goofy asf when they’re too short

I’m 6’0 160ish and the 183 are great for me. I can’t speak on a 189 cause I ain’t ride em, but I think it’s overkill to be honest. You’ll be happy w what you got

On a real note tho ive always skiied 160s so 171 I thought was sizing up. I liked how easy the small skis would rotate but I should probably size up more for more stability on the tip and tail of the skis.

You should be on 183s or 189s

Still don’t know if you’re trolling. Do your 183s actually fit you perfectly being 5’ 7”

I rode 177s for a season and it was fun to ollie and nollie on but it was almost too easy to “butter” where I could just learn foward and completely overpower my skis. Landing big shit on em too was hard they were too washy for me. I finally Made the switch to 183 this past season and it’s still easy to move around and feels significantly more stable while still surfy and fun as fuck to ride

Word that gives me more confidence for getting the 189s

Good. 189s will be perfect for you. No idea why everyone downvoted my original post ab 183 fitting me right when that’s the perfect height for that ski lol

People are pussies who can’t handle their skis that’s why. They know they can’t spin their 6’s off for their instagram reels edits if they don’t wear their childrens sized skis so they take their distraught out on switchlip2

TDLR// If you ride short skis, just get good enough to ride long ones

Its so much more chill to learn to spin on shorter skis before you hop on the 189s but I agree with sizing upalot on vishnus because they are more buttery and jibby. Imo they should also make a 160 so the lil lil jibbers can learn to jib on a soft ski and maybe have ur 10yo hitting some street lol.
