GoPro VS Other POV cams

So long story short...lost my go pro Hero 2 in the bottom of a huge lake this summer. Great camera by the way loved it, easy to use, versatile and pretty tough. Been looking into getting another used one off Ebay or perhaps a Sony Action cam. Supposed to have a quality camera and I can get a newer one with way more accessories for cheaper.

Is it worth the extra $$ for the GoPro? Any other cams out there anyone would recommend?

I picked up my last Hero 2 for $200 in prime condition on Ebay with a helmet, chest, bunch of other mounts. Was a great deal looking for something similar. But considering the action cam as well
 
I've had a couple different ones but that was probably 4 years ago so I'm sure the technology of other cameras has gotten a lot better, but back then the gopro's were significantly better mostly due to versatility with mount positions and durability but the other ones were nice if you wanted something lower profile
 
Know anyone that gets psia discounts? They can get gopros for 50% off. Or at least they used to, cant say fir sure if they still do that

Dang thats awesome...I don't know anyone personally if you do I will pay you a % fee of total purchase to get me one at that price?
 
I think the GoPro is definitely the best choice. Superior IQ, and superior array of mounts and accessories. And since you already have used one, the new ones are gonna feel intuitive. I have used the Hero 3 black for about a year now, and it is the most fun piece of equipment that I own.

Solid...think im going to go with another Go Pro. Can get a solid deal on a Hero 3 on ebay with a bunch of mounts and stuff for like $200 bucks.

Is the Hero 3 really that much better than the 2? I had a Hero 2 with the wifi and it worked great good great shots. I know the 3 is a bit smaller but is it worth the extra money?

Wish I'd remembered this. I get PSIA discounts. I lost my Drift HD Ghost this summer kayaking. Just replaced it with the Sony. I get what others are saying about the Gopro mounts. That's one thing not great about the Sony. It has a pretty basic fixed mount. There are work arounds, but it's kind of a pain in the ass. The drift had a mount system that allowed you to change angles easily and the lens could be rotated so you could invert the video footage just by turning the lens. That was key, and the Sony doesn't have it. Although I have to admit that I have been impressed with the quality of the video I get from the Sony once I got settings right.
 
personally, contour HD's just mount to my shlong better for shooting POV porn. op idk if you're shooting POV porn, but if you are, look at a contour

I have the original gopro that i got from him, but my hook up no longer gets psia. I really wish I knew someone though because I wanna upgrade to a newer one real bad
