GoPro POV Stabilization - post production

I was wondering if there is any methods people use to stabilize GoPro POV footage whilst editing (a link to a tutorial would perhaps be useful)?

I use FCPX, I know they have a stabilization function, is it effective? Or is there another program people use in their workflow to get the best results?

Thanks!

in all of my experiences with FCPX where i needed to stabilize, id did a horrible job. it seems to focus on the wrong part of the video to stabilize... at 0:18 i stabilized, it makes a really sweet rolling effect, but not stabilized... at all...

After Effect has a feature called warp stabilizer, might be built into premiere as well. Only use this if you shot at a resolution higher than your output resolution. Eg. Shoot at 4k or 2.7K, then output at 1080p. If it was a shot at a high frame rate, slowing it down can also help with appearing to stabilize the footage, mainly for very small/somewhat fast movements.

You are not doing it right if it ends up like that...
