GoPro Pole Mounts

Hey all,

I'm in search of a cheap lightweight method of mounting a go pro to my ski pole. Some sort of rig I can either leave on the pole or toss in my pocket for a next to nothing cost. I've been doing some quick internet scanning and so far the best option I've come accross can be found in the attached link. The problem being that it's made for bike handle bars and so the adjustable diameter does not go small enough for a ski pole. I will have to wrap some sort of padding around the pole to make up to difference. Either way, I might cough up the whole $3 to give it a shot, I'll let you know how it turns out.

In the mean time I'd love to hear how you've rigged your gopro up to your ski pole, or post up a picture of your go pro handle set up.

Cheers

The attachment I'm purchasing:

I bought one of the older generation (gopro 3+ black era) normal pole mounts. It came with 2 separate rubber inserts. One was thin that could be used to fit around stuff like bike handle bars, while the other was a thick insert which made the diameter literally the perfect size to pop right onto the end of any ski pole...

So I took that and paired it with one of these metal swivel mounts i bought off ebay from China, like $6.00 shipped when I bought it......

....When I go skiing, I mount these 2 pieces together along with the gopro itself together and keep it snug in my jacket pocket all day long. Whenever I wanna get some shots for the boys, I'll just pop that shit right on the end of pole and you're good to go. It's super easy and it will rotate in pretty much any angle or direction you could want. Hope this helped and I might be able to find a pic of it somewhere, but it's pretty self explanatory.

OP honestly your original idea is probably the cheapest thing I can think of. Just grab some duct tape to wrap around your pole and your good to go.

I just sawed/sanded the top of my ski pole flat, then drilled a hole in it, and drilled a hole in a go-pro mount, then screwed them together. A free selfie stick and pole mount with no extra equipment. Though I think I've only used it 1 or 2 times because taking videos takes away from the experience of just shredding!

I have a telescoping selfie stick type thing with an adjustable tripod thread on the end. It's an extra piece of gear to lug around but it collapses down to about 6" so it will fit in my pocket without hassle.

So the peice I ordered came and it's too large to use practically with a ski pole. It's do-able if you increase the diameter of your pole by >1cm, but who wants a big wad of tape on on their pole. I threw it on my bike for now.

I thought about adding a mount to the top, but doesn't your pole strap annoyingly come into frame on some of your shots?

Mm I haven't noticed, I think I usually just wrap it around the handle a couple times and it's fine.

OP you want a pole mount. go on ebay.

anyone know of a system to connect the quick connect to a pole? would like to go from helmet to pole and not unscrew anything. haven't found anything other then custom solutions.

This one uses the quick connect and works on poles with diameters from 9mm to 35mm.

Awesome - should have known they would come up with something and charge 30$ :-)
