GoPro lens swap, no fisheye?

It can be done, I googled. I am sure some of you know already and have done it and there is already a thread. I searchbarred, but couldn't find it (I believe it is due to the somewhat "new" way the searchbar works). Anyways, I am curious how its been done amongst my fellow NSers. Cheap= better. Also any other cool Gopro mods should be posted up, but most important to me is the lens swap. Looked it up on the GoPro sight, only found wide-angle (fisheye) swap- I am probably blind though and missed a GoPro manufactured one... Thanks!

You can get flat port housings for correcting underwater distortion but you can't replace the lens itself.

I think what you’re meaning is the new Field of View feature on the GoPro2.

You can select if you want wide angle 170 degree field of view, or something smaller.

As far as i know, it’s not great as it just digitally zooms in on the picture so quality degrades.

If you really want to do it, it can be done in post production. Definitely in Final Cut, not sure which other programmes support it.

I feel like your image would be out of focus unless some very precise tools were used to position the new lens.

There are replacement lenses available to change the FOV to 100 to 80 degrees (depending on video setting). The modification isn't exactly for the faint of heart, and will prevent you from using the camera housing.

GoPro has expressed interest to one of their sponsors in having the rectilinear lens as an option from what I understand, though I can't say where it is going as that information is about a year old now.
