GoPro HD helmet hero battery question

hey guys,

im considering buying a gopro pretty soon for the upcoming season, i was just wondering if anyone has used the one with the new lithium battery.

how does it hold up in the cold? i know my other gear like my iphone and mp3 player and even my other camcorder will sometimes crap out really fast if it gets super cold out, then they'll only wake back up again if i warm them up.

does the gopro have the same problem, or does it hold up well against the cold air when it's stuck to the top of your helmet?

a battery warmer? you can't be serious...

and the fact that it's surrounded by plastic really doesn't mean anything, my gear goes dead even inside my jacket sometimes if the windchill has temps near zero or below

anyone else have any actual personal experience and care to testify on the subject?

it works great, you're fine! haven't ever had one die during a day of skiing if i start with a full charge

Direct quote from the info page on the company site:

"Camera also features an integrated battery heating system for keeping your battery warm in winter activities."

And YES... Plastic has fairly good insulation properties, so it works to keep things alive and blinking.

And, I have used it down to about -20 Fahrenheit, Didn't have a problem.

It has the best video quality of the HD helmet cam world (in my opinion), it is waterproof, warms itself, and has quite a few nice accessories. It also has o.k. low light performance, which cannot be said for several competitors.

You could have found all this info and several reviews/comparison videos via google...

^^all true, battery works 1,5 - 2 hours easily when skiing, which is quite good if you ask me ! (and that's filming time, not standby time)

Thanks man, ive been all over the GoPro site and i guess i missed that. i know there are reviews and whatnot elsewhere, and ive been looking at sample ski footy all over the place, but i figure the NS community probably has the most extensive experience of any other forum community on the internet when it comes to using these things in the snow, that's why i decided to post here.

and yes, the video quality looks absurd for such an affordable, rugged and versatile camera, that's why i want one so bad.

thanks for the helpful post, and for not going "searchbar faggot!" or something like that when you began to feel that my question was too obvious.

also badass pic, sigur ros has been one of my all time favorite bands for about 8 years.

Yeah! they have been my favorite band since about 2003. I bought the ( ) album on a whim at a thrift store. It caught my eye; because it had no art, lyrics or song titles.

And 7 years later, out of the 200+ gigs of music I have, they are still my favorite band.

Powder skiing + Saeglopur = best day ever.

i have a whole sigur ros playlist for deep pow days, it goes:

olsen olsen

gobbledigook

staralfur

glosoli

saeglopur

untitled 1, 4, and 8

go an daginn

it's great for the morning warmup and right after the noon tree run safety meeting, i sometimes switch to more uptempo stuff if we're hitting big cliffs and i need a confidence boost

GoPro batteries are boring, this is now a Sigur Ros appreciation thread!

Goddamn, this music touches me so much, not a single powder edit can get me this stoked to shred!
Just listening to one of these songs and closing my eyes brings me straight back to last winter !
10/10 for every Sigur ros fan!post your fav. songs!

maaaaaan i want to go to one of their live shows so bad, i hear it's practically a religious experience...ive come so close a couple times, on both occasions i was traveling and got into the city one day too late...that seems to always be the story.

Heima is such a fucking awesome documentary too

Dude, I had a good ticket to the October show at Benaroya hall in Seattle a couple years ago. On the way to the concert, car died...
