GoPro HD comparisons

I saw a thread on the GoPro HD helmet cam. It is sick.. it shoots great quality video and is relatively cheap ($300). Being the poor college student I am though, I was wondering if there are other cameras out there that shoot in just as good quality and are less expensive. I don't need a helmet cam so if anyone knows of a good HD camera for cheap that would be great.
 
do u really need hd? u can just do what im doing and waiting for the hd's to get totally in stock so the price on the regular gets pulled down
 
The point of this thread is not to find other helmet cams. I am just curious if there are other cameras that film at the same quality the GoPro HD does. I do not want a helmet cam, that is why I am asking this.

Here's a bunch of videos from vholdr's website. In the third row, there's a video which is a side-by-side comparison with other helmetcams, but the HD GoPro isn't in there. Still, 1080p is better than your average headcam. Actually, I think that's more than a macbook pro's screen.

I don't know though from experience, I've never used or owned any of these cams.

...but seriously, the gopro HD is really sick for the money, but if you just want any small HD camera the best first step is going to a camera store. Normally they will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
