hey newschoolers basically all my gopro footage is in vlc files when on my computer which i beleive is mp4 files but i am trying to convert them to avi files but havnt found any decent software to do it all the ones i have tried have a limit on the size, so i am basically asking what is the best way to turn my files into files which are suppported by video editing software but is free

mpeg streamclip is a good converter. and i'm pretty sure vlc isn't a format, just the program used to view them.

-Go to Afterdawn.com

-Click on the Software Tab

-Search for exactly that

-Download program that comes up

Dont worry, Afterdawn is a LEGIT ass website. If you dont believe me look around the forums there are thousands of threads and posts for stuff like this.

my final cut pro x doesnt support any of the VLC files i have, and some quicktime files... but all of my gopro footage becomes the kind of quicktime format i need for it to work so..
