First off, yes I am making this in NSG because I'm desperately frustrated and I never get any responses when I make a thread in Media and Arts.
So I got a GoPro for christmas and it's AWESOME, but I'm having the hardest time ever getting my footage into FCP 5 to edit it. I downloaded the MPEG Streamclip software that the GoPro site recommends to convert the files to .mov, but when I import the files into FCP they're the wrong size and Ihave to render each clip after putting it in the timeline. The GoPro website says to convert the files to .mov using the Apple ProRes 422 option but my MPEG Stremclip doesn't have that because my FCP is older...
If ANYONE can help me out I would appreciate it TONS!!! because I just want to edit some footage for newschoolers

i went through the same thing last year with the gopro. i eventually gave up and now im trying final cut express 4 and i like it alot better because it actually works for me

ARGHHHHH!! i know if there were a computer programmer or something at my house he'd be like "oh, simple fix, you just need to ___________________" or at least be able to tell me what's wrong
i'm just hoping SOMEONE on here has gone through this and been able to solve it

The mpeg streamclip export options shoul have nothing to do with what version of FCP you have. And when you export the files, set the size/resolution to the same that you recorded in. As for the rendering, that's your sequence settings. Set the sequence (cmd 0 I think) to the same as whatever you exported from streamclip (I use prores 422 LT) and you shouldn't have to render.

i'm pretty sure i read on some forum that Streamclip automatically reads what version of fcp you have so that is why mine doesn't have Apple ProRes 422, again i'm really not very tech savvy which i why i need to make threads like this so I'm not sure....all i know is that I don't have the option to export in ProRes
also, what is cmd 0??

Yeah haha hopefully that should take care of your rendering problems once you get streamclip working. I don't know that much about it though so I can't help you sorry

for my gopro clips i import them into imovie hd(older version) and when i do that it changes converts them to .mov. then i drag them straight from imovie into final cut. hope this helps!!
