GoPro 3 or Contour GPS??

Does anyone have any knowledge or opinion between the two cameras?

Thinking about video quality, variety of mounts, and overall ease of use.

I got a GoPro 3 Silver (or whatever the second most-expensive is) and I have had many difficulties with it.

I purchased two 16 GB micro SD cards, at first neither one was capable of recording a video without ending by itself, or freezing completely resulting in me having to take out the battery.

Then I decided to install the update, one of those two SD cards is still not working at all, but the one that I used to update the GoPro has worked sometimes. Yesterday, it successfully recorded about two videos around 30 sec each. It failed on about 15 or so. That's a pretty poor ratio and extremely frustrating when you're really trying to get a shot and are in the zone. In addition to the camera freezing or stopping the recording on its own, when I got home to view the footage, some of the MP4 files were not able to open.

Today was a different story. I updated the GoPro again this morning (same update), and it worked perfectly for me today out skiing. All MP4s were capable of being opened. Today was the ONLY day so far (15 videos, probably 5-6 minutes of footage) in which my GoPro didn't suffer some problem.

Because of these problems, I have a suspicion that my memory cards are to blame. I will probably invest in getting a better micro SD card. Also, I am pretty sure that very few people are experiencing the problems that I am experiencing, but an employee at a GoPro tent did say that a person came in with the exact same problems I have.

 
I have the 3. It was awesome when I used it today. I thought there was something wrong with the battery but there wasn't
 
used to be all for gopros, but tried out a contour roam today. The image quality was slightly below that of the gopro 2 (havent used the 3 or the contour gps), but fine for basic ns uploads etc.Mainly, the contour's ease of use was soooo much better. the one switch for recording is awesome... no messing with buttons/ checking if it's on.

 
I actually feel like a dick because I got a new camera for free when the other one was fine. I was just charging it wrong. Damn I feel strait retarded, and I feel bad as well.
 
just bought a hero 3 silver edition, and it's not working.

It worked for setup, but when i tried to install the update earlier today for the wifi app compatibility…the gopro stopped working. i tried everything. the screen is blank and nothing turns on.

i think i have the right SD card…i dont think the shop would carry the wrong one. fuck im pissed.
 
returned the first one, got a new Hero 3 from the shop. Works like a charm! I guess i got a faulty one the first time
 
i was in my local mountain store and the gopro hero3 stand was right next to the contour stand.

All i say is that the contour fucking sucked dick compared to the gopro
 
Just got a 3 Black yesterday, with a 32 gb class 10 sandisk micro sd. I tried to take it out today, and was only able to take a few photos (turned out ok) before the front screen froze, showing just the video icon. It was unresponsive--couldn't turn it off, record, or turn wifi on. I took out the battery, put it back in... Didn't do anything. A couple hours later I tried again and it worked.

Plugged it into the computer, and couldn't play most of the video files. The only one that would play was shot in 1080p 48fps, and the quality was terrible. Tried it on Windows Movie Maker (computer is new enough [got it in august: HP pavilion m6] that i haven't installed a better program yet) and Media Player, no difference--super choppy, pixelated, etc. The 1440 clips only play audio--no video showed up... I'm a bit upset haha.

I think I'll try reinstalling the update.
