I stumbled on the best secret on earth today....

1. go to google maps.

2. go to summit at snoqualmie ( i know this works there)

3. make sure the satellite map is on

4. drag the street view icon onto the ski slope.

5. HOLY SHIT

the pics have been taken within the last week or so.

If they update this frequently, deciding where to ski on certain days will be much easier!

They weren't taken in the past week. They were added in the past two weeks, but the photos were taken earlier this year. The photos are, unfortunately, much lower quality than at Whistler. It's not like these are live images...

no. of course they are not. But if the pictures were taken very recently. I assume they used a 360 go pro setup, as there are multiple pics of skiers right in front of the camera. Its just really cool.

Street View has a snowmobile, from what I've heard, that has been visiting these resorts. They hope to keep expanding slowly, adding more resorts yearly. Expect a big explosion in the number of viewable resorts by next year.

thats sick. I wonder if they will be able to update the pics frequently? It seems like a ski patroller could strap a go pro setup to his head them upload the pics to google before the lifts officially start running.

I believe you are seeing photos that anyone can add to Google Earth. People do it all the time with backpacking photos. It's great information for hiking/camping, especially when you use plugins like the Topographical maps on Google Earth.

If I'm not mistaken, you can see more photos if you download the actual Google Earth program.

no they actually mapped out runs with a 360 degree camera just like they did with streets. just go to google maps find a resort and drag the street view icon over the runs, the blue lines will show which runs are mapped just drop it and explore like any other place on street view
