Goodbye sheffield ski village :(

That's tragic, hopefully it was profitable and insured well enough to be rebuilt bigger and better.

Any news on the cause of the fire?
 
There were acetylene cylinders in the building or something.

I cant think they made a ton of money, like most dry slopes but im sure it was insured and hopefully it gets rebuilt, I only skied there a few times but it was probably one of the best dryslopes in the UK.
 
Shit! That's awful! I remember when some twats tried to set Hillend on fire and the time it was almost closed due to funding pressure, those were not happy times. +vibes for all the local riders.

Hopefully it gets up and running again. Think of the stink if Woodsy won an olympic medal and they found out the place had burnt down and hadn't been reopened.
 
Thats shitty, can only hope it gets re-built pretty quick.The business will lose lots of trade from the upcoming summer, hopefully the company will survive :(

was this arson? so many places have been atacked by arson in the past like 5 years, plymouth was hit only a 6 weeks ago...

I would be such a saddening thing to find out someone targeted a ski slope on purpose.
 
Well the chavs firebombed the actual slope a couple of years ago, so you never know! Sad stuff, I had some good times with Sheffski there!
 
they were worried about the accetelyn cylinders exploding not that they are saying that is the cause of the fire. the cause has not been released yet but if its been a target for arson before its likely to be arson again. the fire investigation is going to happen in a couple of days. this sucks but a building like this will be insured and one of the employees was saying they were doing ok as a business so hopefully this wont be the end for sheffield, but a new beginning for a bigger and better ski village (as they had plans for, for some time). a couple of people were calling it out as insurance fraud but i dont think so.
 
I fucking hate no-good, jealous, "got to take their lifestyle away from them because I can't be fucked to work for it myself" types, and I fucking hate the "lets set fire to this because there's nobody around and we won't get caught I dont care about shit" types even more

Well look at the replacement that Hemel got after that burnt down. It's only the building that got burnt down though right? So the slope is still there? (That's coming from my limited knowledge on it all)
 
The building is in a smoldering pile on the ground so i assume there will be some slope damage but from what ive seen and read its only the building that was on fire but they may use it as a chance to start near freash and raise extra money to improve the set up they had as an initiative to encourage interest as freeskiing begins to jump in popularity.
 
Was on a course today with someone who works as ski patrol there, scary stuff. Maybe an insurance job to get a full snowdome there?
