Goodbye 2020 Australian ski season.

The Australian government just announced a (predicted) 6 month travel ban on foreign visitors to Australia.

Indefinite bans have been placed on non-essential gatherings of more than 100 people.

I’m so sad.
 
Unfortunately assumed this was coming. Sucks hard though. I really like the mtn I work for in Aus. Hopefully next year well be back to normal. RIP normal life
 
Bummer, I'm in New England and pretty much all the mountains near me are closed. We didn't have much snow left to begin with but I was looking forward to one more day of skiing :(
 
Our Treasurer said it will likely be in place for 6 months. No hard dates so there is a tiny glimmer of hope but not much.

I touched base with a friend at the resort in Africa. Might try and send it down there for the season. Idk. Hoping everything chills out and the southern winter is able to go on as planned. Not looking great though atm.

Just got an email that says that they're doing what they can to keep the ski season a thing, but I'm not getting a contract and probably not going. Not that I hadn't figured that out, but this kinda kills any shred of pretend fake hope I was holding out.

Regardless just hope this shit shot gets contained without too extreme of an impact.
 
Yeah above all I just hope we can minimise loss of life and economic harm. Stay safe out there guys.

for sure. I don't mind being locked in home eating garbage food if it's the different between the end of the world.

The season is happening but i doubt ill be able to go. Wouldn't expect them to want to throw an American a work visa right now but id be super stoked if they did.
