get scott international racers, I bend them sometimes but I heat them up and straighten them. They cost 80 us dollars. but when I used cheap poles I broke them once every two weeks.

I like the Scott World Cups...

Definately invest in composite poles. They have good flex, in case you land on them or drive them into yourself while landing, and they'll last forever. I recommend Goode poles.

Don't waste your money on Aluminum racing poles (Scott World Cup) unless you're a racer, because they'll get wrecked just as quick as cheap poles, and they cost four times more.

I break poles a lot too. I found a pair from the 80's that are extremely durable that I use. The steal is probably an 1/8th of an inch thick. And the straps are leather. They dont make stuff like they use to. I shy away composite poles. Broken two pairs in two seasons. However, ICE poles are still my favorite, yet expensive.

rentals, rentals, rentals. Some of the toughest poles you will ever find. A little heavy, but that just means the more you ski the bigger your biceps will be.

you cant beat my reflex avalanches, they are crazy bent and the baskets are in pieces but they were only 10 bucks.

just go to the ski racks and exchange them when they break. or steal some rentals.

Do they make a difference? Not much really, but I prefer my light poles I got this year. Its not like you can spin 540s with light poles and only 360s with heavier ones.

composite poles are pretty tough, but i just broke a pair last weekend. i ate it on a rail (my first ever rail slide, we don't have them on our mountain) and got them trapped between the snow, the rail, and me. its cool though because i found another composite pair for only $30.
