Good first guitar?

when I'm not playing my own beats I like to jam metalcore or progressive.veil of maya/born of osiris/the faceless/after the burial/periphery/animals as leaders/august burns red sums it up well.

i got a peavey electric guitar, and a epiphone acoustic that I'm trying to sell, both are pretty sick and I'm willing to let go cheap, pm if you're interested

for guitar i really like stuff like john mayer for the challenge and cool chords, city and colour for the easy improvisation, and anything with 7 chords

for bass, me and my drummer friend jam in weird time signatures playing in styles from dub to funk to the most bizarre yet still grooving shenanigans

So I I've still got this question, I went to a guitar place but didn't have much time and just looked basically.

But the stuff I want to play is stuff like Andrew Jackson Jihadi, Jonny Flynn, Mumford and sons, blitzen trapper and the like

I looked some of them up and I guess it's what's called "folk punk" is the genera I've been really interested in

Folk and indie id go with a Yamaha starting out, but again play around with them at the shop and see which feels better and the action(how hard it is to press the strings).

go to your local shop, ask him what the cheapest acoustic guitars are, and learn from there on

no need to go electric and shit if you're learning.

no one except jimmy should havedone/do that

Bump because I am looking for a guitar as well. Anyone have any thoughts on me buying this as my first 'real' guitar? I have a pretty small learners acoustic guitar that I got in 5th grade, but I never liked how hard it was back then, and now I'm really starting to enjoy it, but I want to upgrade. I want all the advice I can get because I am a complete noob

pretty much this. also every guitar sounds much better with a decent set of strings on it.

a good cheap first acoustic guitar is the fender acoutic starcaster, which is like 100 bucks and sounds pretty good. I got this as my first guitar
