Food Inc. (personally havn't seen it because I don't want to know what goes on but heard its sick)

Street Fight- story of Cory Booker's 2002 candidacy in Newark's 2002 election for mayor. Really interesting if you're into politics.

Cocaine Cowboys and John Lennon vs The USA are both awesome.
Deadliest Crash - Story of a 50's Indy car crash that killed over 100 people and the race kept going.
Man on Wire - About a French guy who in the 70's illegally set up a tightrope between the twin towers and walked across it for 2 hours.
Super High Me - Like Supersize Me, but with weed
Tyson - Mike Tyson
When We Were Kings - About the Muhummad Ali vs George Forman Rumble in the Jungle fight.
The Union - Another one about pot
Bustin Down the Door - Narrated by Edward Norton, about Australian and South African surfers trying to make a name for themselves in Hawaii in the 70's.

HBO: Assault In The Ring (boxing doc)

Also, the Union is gonna get mentioned a million times

Religulous - good flick for atheists wanting to feel good about themselves

food inc. - saw this in school this year. dope for sure.

Dogtown and Z-boys - I always liked this one

Riding Giants- History of big wave surfing from wamaiea back in the day all the way too laird hamilton and the tow in generation.

199 lives- documentary on travis pastrana. super motivational, really shows how crazy he really is and some of the stuff hes had to overcome, like almost killing his friend

Pecados De Mi Padre (Sins of my father) - Saw this in amsterdam at the international documentary film festival and it is amazing. It's the story of pablo escobar's son and his attempts to make peace with the sons of politicians his father had killed. Pretty unbelievably touching story, i suggest all watch it.
Trailer:
it on youtube if you know spanish,
is an english version, just not on youtube

Carts of Darkness

free and interesting -
http://www.nfb.ca/film/carts_of_darkness/

"Murray Siple's feature-length documentary follows a group of homeless

men who have combined bottle picking with the extreme sport of racing

shopping carts down the steep hills of North Vancouver. This subculture

depicts street life as much more than the stereotypes portrayed in

mainstream media. The film takes a deep look into the lives of the men

who race carts, the adversity they face and the appeal of cart racing

despite the risk. Shot in high-definition and featuring tracks from

Black Mountain, Ladyhawk, Vetiver, Bison, and Alan Boyd of Little

Sparta."

there was a documentary about homeless people racing shoping carts. it was sick! cant remember the name though

Also,

The Bridge - its real morbid, but a fascinating look into the 30 something people a year that commit suicide by jumping off the golden gate.

Man on Wire and 199 Lives have both been said, but I would reccomend both.

Disposable Hero

Hood Rich - These are two more good motocross ones about deegan and twitch

Grizzly Man - people that live with bears

American Hardcore - old punk scene

Piece by Piece- About the history of graffiti in San Fran. Really interesting how each city has their own styles

Hubble.
1. Buy copious amounts of weed2. Roll said copious amounts of weed3. Smoke4. See Hubble5. ??????6. Profit

fav mockumentary (is that a word?!) would be This is spinal tap. hilarious

but Dog town and Z boys is pretty awesome, its about the transformation of skateboarding. its directed by stacy peralta who did riding giants as well

Blue Gold: World Water Wars, basically about how large companies, mainly french, are buying up water rights around the world and we could all be fucked some day

i watched that again this weekend!

fuck that movie is so dope, i love the part where they make the xylophone out of rocks and just jam in a cave ahaha

they are so cool

I can't remember the name, somebody on here will probably know. It was about a bunch of rednecks who moved out in the middle of the desert and made their own society. They had farms, lived in RVs or ghetto shack places, didn't go to school and lived by the gun. Some were war veterans, kids always run away to these people and in the film some girl was accepted into their society. This is somewhere in the US. Somebody must know what I'm talking about.

I imagine many people on NS have seen this, but to those who haven't seen it, it is worth everyone's time, even if you're entirely against marijuana usage.

McLibel

It's about some Brits fighting against the McDonalds corporation in a libel lawsuit. It exposes a lot of the more secretive shit going on in the fast food industry.

Religulous is not for "atheists who need to feel good about themselves" - it actually makes some sense and almost completely reassures me that most religion is conflicting and can make little sense at times. i'm not at all against people with religion though, everyone has the right to believe what they want.
The Cove- very very good. eye opening because even the people in japan don't know that this shit goes down. i was in japan this summer and my mom and grandma talked about it and my grandma said that the movie was petitioned against being played in tokyo and is becoming extremely controversial.
RiP: Remix Manifesto- mostly follows Girl Talk and his efforts to rid the copyright laws and lawsuits by big record companies. i enjoyed because i love listening to party remixes and girl talk especially. turns out that a single girl talk song can cost up to $4,200,000 if he got all the rights. definitely worth checking out.

Loose change is so bullshit the guy's grasping at straws don't watch it it's a waste of your life.
