Good crowbar lens...

High Intensity Yellow is probably the best low-light lens, I used to use it anytime from night, to flat light, to overcast, to semi-cloudy...basically anything other than sunny.

Yep, pink iridium is good too, but better for cloudy conditions than night. Its basically clear looking out of it which is why I liked it.

Another lense question thought I would just add it hear....

How is the Emerald Iridium lense, and how does it look in the goggles?

Sorry for the thread jack.

yeah me too.. i have vr80? i think, not too sure, ha but they are not very good for the low light we get out here in michigan..

my favorite lenses are gold irid (just a bit lighter than persimmon), Pink irid, hi yellow is alright, clear is good to. i have titanium clear which is really good at night and before i got my gold irid i used it all the time unless its blue bird. Another less is blue irid, im not %100 sure thats the acual name but some peole like it im not a big fan.

The Oakley site says "medium to bright light". In other words: not good for low light.
I have a HI Yellow lens. It's great for skiing in low light, flat light and when it's snowing. It also looks really cool, it has a kinda purple/blue reflective coating. Definitely recommended.
In comparison (if I understood the Oakley site correctly): HI Yellow lets 81% of light pass through whereas Gold Iridium only lets 20%.

okay, thanks. what lens would you recomend for low light conditions? i mean in michigan we rarely get sunny days to ride, or whats the best for low light and for sunny?

blue irid is good for that, most likely the best all around lens. But i also reallly like gold irid its perfect for low light and good for night and fine with sun.

Definitely do HI yellow. That's what I use for night skiing. HI Yellow makes available light brighter, whereas clear just lets you see normally.

Does anyone have their own picture of goggles with the gold irid in it? Or just is there mirror in it?

Or ill just take one from ns...

on the oakley website it's 70 bucks, which is bullshit. i got mine off my friend for like, 20 bucks i think? because he hooked it up... haha

try to get one on b/s/t, you can probably find it for 40 or under in decent shape.

oh word, my friend is selling these exact ones for around $60.Smcelligott

i think he wanted to sell local but you should ask him.

this is true. i have other lenses that are very good on bright days, otherwise i wouldn't have gotten the high yellow.

the high yellow is a great lens to complement a darker one, but i do not recommend getting it as your sole lens. gold or pink iridium would do the job much better if you're only going to get one lens.

^lol lol lol

when people "murder out there goggs they use grey polarized because its darker/more black than black irid. its no good for low light.

clear is by far the best night lens, pink irid and hi yellow are nowhere near as good. i race everyday at night under crappy lights and clear is far and away the best

Ye , I know clear is the best but its really ugly imo, im more looking at HI yellow. Anybody got pics of splice w/ HI yellow (or crowbar)?

ugly?! its not a fucking fasion show out there! Sure get stuff that looks cool but shut the fuck up if you dont want the lens cause it looks "ugly"

Truly, Persimmon is the only real versatile lens, but some good ones are Pink Iridium, And Black Iridium, depending on how sunny or if you go night skiing. For sunny days get the black.

ya but here in michigan we hardley get any super sunny days, only overcast.
im stuck between HI yellow or gold irid...... anymore suggestions?

i live in washington and i use hi yellow all the time. I have clear and fire iridium too, but i find that hiyellow is so much better for flat light that i use it all the time. It works pretty good at night, i cant even tell a difference between it and clear. Fire is helpful on sunny days but only like one out of 10 days are sunny so i just stick to yellow

i used my pink irid in every condition except for bluebird days and was really impressed with its versatility

ya i have tried out the pink irid before and i really liked the way it was in low light, but it wouldnt really go with my goggles...so i think i will get gold irid for my overall lens..

GOLD IRIDIUM IS NOT A LOW LIGHT LENS, its a bright to medium light lens. There are way better options take a look at the G30 lens and vr50 emerald iridium. I used gold iridium all season for sunny days and pink iridium for cloudy/night

I have pink iridium and i love it. It works great in flat light and can still be used in the sun if wanted.

After reading this thread I have come to a conclusion: you have to decide whether you actually want a lens that's good for low light (HI Yellow) or a cool-looking mirrored lens that will perform really bad in low light and make your goggles look fancy (Gold Iridium).
Sorry if I seem harsh but it just seems silly to me that you're looking for a low light lens and considering the Gold Iridium.

I am going to go ahead and recommend the HI Yellow, once again. This lens excels in low and flat light and also when it's snowing.
Or you can get the not-really-great-in-any-conditions-but-ok-in-most Pink Iridium.

i used my pink iridium lens for every night of night skiing this season. worked good. its the perfect low light lens if you still want a mirror finish. if you dont care about that hi yellow really really brightens things up. if you ever wear a hi yellow lens on a bluebird day your retinas will melt into your brain from the brightness

Or you could just get the HI Yellow., which looks pretty cool too. Here's a photo of the slight mirror finish on it, taken by yours truly.

I'm not saying that the Pink Iridium sucks in low light, just that the HI Yellow is way better.

HI Persimmon is awesome for everything except may really bright light.

I would post a picture of mine but the button doesn't work.
