hell yes, I love golden age hiphop. Threads for when i have time to post

good shit so far guys. two of the most talented lyricists in my opinion. i'd also include kool g, rakim, pharoahe monch and prince po (organized konfusion) under that designation as well.

this is some organized konfusion if you haven't heard them. the album is stress: the extinction agenda and the song name is "bring it on". first verse is pharoahe monch and second is prince po. this is probably my favorite and two of the most technical verses ever in hip-hop. this cd dropped in 94 and the level of skill these two emcees were on was other-wordly alien-status. certainly a must-listen album if you haven't already. this is my favorite album for a good reason. check it!

Do you not agree?

Or do you prefer the hip hop (really pop music) of the last 10 years? Filled with auto tune and fans turned to rappers because they installed Pro Tools on their Mac?

While I certainly like 80's hip hop the 90's was when it flourished. From the early 90's when it was all raw NYC hip hop to the mid to late 90's when the West Coast started to take over the game, that era produced more classic tracks/albums than any other.

If you think of hip-hop as its original, not recorded, block party mc battles then yes, I would say the 80's would be the golden age. But as for recorded hip hop, I think that starting in '89 it really started to take off on a whole new level. Especially production wise. Can't really beat Pete Rock, Large Pro, Diamond D, Buckwild, Premier and such in my mind...
