I’m going to CSU for environmental science and sustainability this fall. What are the better places to ski near FoCo? I know there’s Eldora but I was hopin to find somewhere more gritty and down to earth than Woodward

Have you ever been to Eldora? Just because Woodward runs the park there doesn't mean they turned it into Vail or Aspen. ElDora has a dope vibe with chill kids that are always lapping the park. Ruby Hill is cool for a quick session or during the week but would recommend Eldora as I've never heard of someone having a bad experience there.

for gritty and down to earth, best you'll find is Ruby Hill, which is a little hill with several rails in denver. it's free. Loveland (tiny park) and Eldora are about as down to earth as you'll get for actual resorts unless you want to drive halfway across the state. I have never been to Echo, but I know it was all park many seasons ago. could be worth looking into.

Echo still exists? I thought it was turned into a ski race facility for the ultra-rich

Get yo self an uptown girl and become best friends with her dad.

Actually no joke, find some thot who drives a brand new 4runner, jeep, or outback with cali plates and there's a 69% chance her family has property you can crash at in breck, vail, or dillon if you lie to her about how thoughtful she is enough

*skis at the largest private ski area in the US with a 20k initiation fee… Where’s the most down to earth gritty ski area in the front range?

It was but I think it was unsustainable so a different company bought it and it is open to the public... sometimes they have two boxes and a rail set up. It is a shadow of its former self. I went once for shits and giggles and got bored pretty quick.

Mans really asking if there’s a Brighton or Trollhaugen in Colorado, smh. Jus embrace the colorahbro lifestyle and go to the normal resorts, Colorado is flat as shit so there’s a lot of good park there to chose from.

I never knew this about echo. I was just looking at their old park. Looks fun as hell

From foco it'll take about the same amount of time to get to steamboat as it would getting to Summit County with weekend traffic. Definitely the move on busier weekends

Good tip thank you sm

Snowy range in Wyoming is definitely low key. But steamboat on the weekends kicks ass and is often times faster taking highway 14 than fighting the I-70 hellscape to the resorts in summit or vail.

Pre season there’s a small park at the first turn off on Loveland pass that’s pretty fun nothing major just some rails some homies throw together

I did this once but I wouldn’t call her a thot. I lowkey stopped talking to her 1 month but then out of the blue her dad invited me to stay in the Teton Club at Jackson Hole for a week.

Tahoe has the same at Mt Rose trailhead. That shit was so fun

That my home spot! It’s tight and super low key. The park is honestly pretty bad but like 5 years ago it used to be poppin. This year they had a couple wack ass jumps, a dfd box, a frame rail, a short fat tube, and some other random boxes. some buddies and I are gonna be on park crew this year hopefully so it should be a little better. Great mountain, fixed grips only, 350 some feet of vert, patrol are super homies and there’s good cold snow 9/10 days. TLDR: flat, good snow, good people

I’ll definitely be checking it out. Looking forward to meeting some new people.

If it's still around join the CSU snowriders. There's gonna be a lotta casuals but there will be a good amount of people who rip and are always down to ski/board

Snowriders if you're about the casual side. Freeride if you're more into big mtn and a true team. Also can join both since they're both super cheap and great people. (Just graduated and former founder/prez of freeride) (gf was VP of snowriders) if you have any questions about them just dm!

Gritty in Colorado? Colorado is the epicenter of corporate skiing, even the home of vail.

Nothing wrong with Eldora. There’s also echo mountain but eldora is better.

Eldora has a good park and the resort has great vibes; as long as you don't mind occasionally standing in line with backcountry rippers skiing downhill on their tech setups (I speak in self-deprecation). Super Unknown goes there, and L1 is core, so if it's good enough for them, then it's probably good enough for you.

Or you could just set up some BC jumps in Cameron Pass or Rocky Mountain National Park; the former for better snow.

The park at Eldora is fucking sick and underrated asf. No crowds, easy drive, make CU friends and party/crash with them on weekends.

Ski Colfax at Denver. Their terrain park is gritty. Way better than Woodward.

Cmon man don’t lie to him

Colfax is as nice as it gets, imagine nyc and those 10 mil dollar penthouses. That’s what colfax is all about. Make sure to walk around at 12-2 am just to see all the night life and culture it has!

I’m not expecting to ski much. Maybe half a dozen times. I’ll be skiing plenty when in home on winter break. I didn’t apply to CSU for the skiing I applied for my major and for Colorado

You'll get way more than 6 days unless you literally don't try to ski. CO's season is long.

I got almost 70 days this season with an 18 credit spring semester and internship. CSU certainly has a big ski community and you can get a ton of days if you're committed. Granted im in the backcountry half the time but just letting you know there's tons of skiing to be had if you're willing to drive a little further!

That’s awesome to hear. I wanted to go in with low expectations so I didn’t get disappointed

Why is this getting downvoted lmao
