Going to china and japan in december

So I'm likely to be in China and then Japan in December/January, getting

dragged by my rents to get my Hong Kong ID. I'm going on the condition

for China. Has anyone been? How is it? Also if any of you have

recommendations for skiing in Japan that would be great, thanks!

I'm in beijing right now, the only place i know of is in Harbin, which is way up north. check out www.thebeijinger.com and just do a search for ski resorts, you'll be surprised. i actually saw a teaser for a snowboard movie by a chinese crew and it was DOPE, wish i could find it again.

Oh wow. jealous. And dont act like its such bummer that your getting "dragged" to china and Japan (although good call on making sure you get to ski there). Sounds like a sick trip, hopefully youll get dumped on and get to ski some of those trees

Yeah Harbin is pretty far north, I'm not sure I'm going to be up that far north because my rents are from Hong Kong and Guangzhou so we'll probably be spending most of our time there and in Beijing with my aunt. I think Nanshan ski resort is very close to Beijing as well as Dolomiti ski resort though so that will probably work out best.

yes I'm getting dragged because I have to get my Hong Kong ID before I turn 21, which pretty much means I have to do it this winter, which also means taking at least 3 weeks off of university to fly there for the application process, I am in an honors program that is really going to kick my ass if I do go. If I'm getting completely fucked over by my program by going, I'm going to have some fun doing so.

I looked at some mountains in Japan and the Joetsu kokusai ski resort looks pretty good.

For Japan, go up north to the Hokkaido area and shred pow the whole time. This is where a lot of the crews stay and ride when they go over there: http://www.bdlodge.com/english/index.html Japan is just all the way around though, really nice people and just a fun place. Good luck on the trip!
