Going snowboarding...

forfun

Well now that skiing has reached an exceedingly high level of gayness, the time has come to go shred it on a single plank.. I am just wondering for all those newschoolers out there that do both, did knowing how to ski help at all with snowboarding? I'm not too worried cause i skateboard everyday, but at the same time I'm really not looking forward to those first few days of ass-slapping... thanks.

Are you switching over for good? Heres my story.

When i was about 4 i learned how to ski. My dad does both and i became very intrigued so i dropped skiing when I was 8 and picked up snowboarding because it looked really cool and fun. So last year when i was 14 i had a deep craving to try skiing again because of NS, the people i ride with, and the twin tips. Last year we were lacking snow so i didn't bother buying a pair. This year the craving became even more intense and i picked up Nipples Armada AR3's 151 for pretty cheap on ebay. I had some experience skiing before so it wasn't a huge deal to switch over.

whoa guys keep it treal i only asked for those who both ski and snowboard for some advice. we all have opinions and i'm tired of skiing

it's fun. i'll go like once mabye every couple of years. Just have a wide stance and stay low and if your on your toes looking back up the mountain make sure you;re on your toes so you don't cach you heelside edge and backslap.

i snowboard. I just learned on my own. I thought i picked it up pretty fast compared to most people i have ridden with, when you turn just turn your upper body, have your legs follow, and lean. Thats i can really tell you. But i dont think its anything like skating so dont think thats gonna make you really good.

i first learnede how to ski then i snowboarded but i went back to skiing cuz it looks so mch sicker and it takes more skiill and its overall much better

yea ive been skiing for 12 years and 3 weeks ago i decided to try snowboarding for fun. i got 2 runs before i fell adn broke my arm and have not touched snow since. i can finaly go skiing again next weekend. my advice, do not touch a snowboard.

If you skate everday, you'll be pretty well set. I skated long before ever snowboarding, so I learned to ride in like a day. The main difference is that when you're snowboarding, you always have to be on edge just riding along, or your shoulders will drift and you'll fall. Other than that, it's really easy to pick up.

(^thats wrong) but yeah dude ull be even better off than you think... i skate and on my first day boarding a just fell a few times otherwise i was right up there with my friends that had been doin it for years. its just that ur already comfortable riding a board so ull be fine just use ur head and ull figure out all the little things with riding. i say just go in the park and see what u can do, ull be suprised i know i was

when i switched last year from snowboarding to skiing it was really easy, you shoudnt have any toubles. Because most skills will translate over after you learn the basics. If you push yourself you should be in the park second , if not first day.

dude snowboardings so easy, first time ever on a snowboard, seshed a downrail, did a 50-50, boardslide, c rail, mute 180, a bunch of other shit... just giver, its actually fun, but set your stance on the bindings cuz it suks balls if you're not comfortable.
