Ditch the goggles. I threw mine out years ago, they just get in the way.

Agreed. Having them under your helmet would kind of be a pain in the ass to be honest.

goggles over is so uncomfortable what are you on about

how is it uncomfortable? legit question, I literally don't understand how it could be uncomfortable if you have a helmet that fits properly

It shouldn't be an unpopular opinion but then again its easy to forget we were all once park skiers who were super into trends and not really into functionality lol. But yeah for real. "Goggles getting in the way" is a hilarious comment.

i guess I shouldnt generalize, sorry for the standoffish comment. When I switched from over to under it was night and day for me so I assumed it would be the same for others.

In my experience, with my io7's, they dont sit perfectly on the bridge of my nose, and let air through near the nose unless my straps are super tight when they are around my helmet. Having them pressing into my face over extended period gets uncomfortable from the straps being so tight. Having the straps that tight has also lead to them fraying near where they connect to the frame of the goggles. So when I realized that some people wear them under and tried it myself, I was pleasantly surprised to fix both issues. Having the goggles under lets them sit at a more downward angle angle on the bridge of my nose, making a better seal, and the straps dont have to be tight at all. Much more comfortable for me. To each his own.

to each his own for sure, but it kinda sounds like you just need some goggles that fit better? Like I have a giant head and my goggle strap fits fine over my helmet, not too tight, but still a nice seal.

Only places u you even need to remotely consider goggles under are Hood and Breck. When I left mt hood for school I started to wear goggs over the helmet. Much better, much more comfortable, much easier to take goggles off the eyes for a second and then reset.

Wear glasses it’s more comfortable and you can actually see your skis without moving your head. Goggles suck. If you don’t want to mess up your nice shades when snow guns are on then throw on safety glasses.

Helmet over goggles is way more comfortable, but I’m stupid and impressionable so I do under.

The issue you will have is that the boa adjustment on the mod3 goes so low in the back that the oakleys almost don’t allow goggles under. Some helmets are very low profile and simple (almost encouraging goggles under the helmet) like smith holt, poc receptor bug, giro Jackson, etc.

you’re just going to have to play around with it.

So I was all with you for my first few seasons with a helmet until

I lost my first helmet clip thing. Those things will catch when ducking those orange ropes that are all over and shoot off never to be found again. Without the clip the goggles don’t stay on. Anyways I put my goggles on first and then the helmet and my problems were solved.

TLDR: by trial and error I discovered goggles under is more functional

After years of having my goggles under I feel like I have some advice... My helmet is a size bigger than if I were to wear it with nothing under it all. This gives me room for a beanie and goggle strap underneath and makes everything snug. If I choose to go no goggles I usually have to crank my chin strap tighter or add some extra pads in the helmet. If you find the right balance of helmet size vs. what's underneath the helmet it's stylish, ultra comfortable, and slightly less functional than over the helmet, but finding the right balance can be pretty difficult.

I dont ski park with googles usually because my home hill is to small to even have a jump.

It's better than nothing. x)

I can take the liner out of mine and wear hoodie+goggles and it works but the goggles are finnicky on my bare head

ps you got good tutorials

depends what youre trying to do.

goggles over

pros:

-easy to remove goggles

-less likely to get foggy since you dont need it to overlap your hat/buff

cons:

-removing your helmet means removing your goggles

-requires better helmet to goggle fit to reduce gaps

-stretches the band on your goggles

goggles under

pros:

- you can remove your helmet without taking off the goggles (is nice for touring and hiking rails on snowy days)

-dont need such a good helmet to goggle fit to stay warm

-you can play with the amount of insulation on your head instead of relying on the helmet liner for warmth

-the goggle band holds your headphones in place

cons:

-your goggles tend to get foggy

-you have to remove your helmet liner (half of what you pay for)

- you have to remove your helmet to take your goggles off (can be tricky if youre trying to air out on a tbar)

@Chrischi69 try taking out the liner, if it still doesnt work, try pulling out the boa adjuster, if that still doesnt work, try getting goggles without a band adjuster (not over the helmet fit), if that is still uncomfortable try a bigger helmet and a thicker hat.

just make sure youre going goggles under for good reasons. comfort will def help you ski better. depending on the situation goggles over can be better

Love skiing in sunglasses but whenever I crash or they fall off for some reason, it is absolutely impossible to get all the snow and water off of them short of going to the blow dryer in the bathroom. Besides not letting them fall off, what solutions do you have

getting the fit right underneath the helmet is def more of a pain when going goggles under, but i can't stand the way goggles fit on my face when i go goggles over. i think the strap coming around the big fat edge of the helmet rather than just coming around the side of my face (that's what she said) makes the goggles not sit on my face as nicely

whenever i ski with shades i keep at least one clean dry bandana or whatever in a zipped pocket so i'm not trying to clean and dry shades with wet hands and wipes

usually/ideally i have a new facetube still in the wrapper sitting in a pocket just in case lol

also consider using croakies, i'm always impressed how well they save me when skiing/surfing in shades

I dunno. When I wear my goggles over, they feel like they pull upwards. Very annoying. When under, they just sit flush and fit perfect. I guess I could get new goggles (or new helmet), but easier to just wear under.

Hunter hess wears goggles over... idk sounds like he isnt in on whats cool. Hunter hess big time jerry
