Goggles over helmet?!?!

So apparently I didn’t get the memo about everyone switching back to putting their goggles over their helmets?? I, like a normal park skier, wear my helmet over my goggles, but since the start of the season i’ve seen hella big name guys rocking their goggles over, like colby stevenson, corey jackson and nicky keefer just to name a few. I’ve also noticed kids on insta and my local mtn making the switch and i can’t help but wonder why, I mean I can’t be the only one that thinks it looks bad right? Wearing your goggles under the helmet used to be that subliminal message that said “yeah i ride park” but now I can’t tell the difference between a park jock and a racer. It used to just be the big mtn dudes that rocked them over which I get, but this trend seems a bit weird to me, if it even is one. Anybody been thinking similarly?

bruh who knows... most people are probably not aware of this shit.

I ride with them under cause I like how it looks, but it's easier to take them off when they're over. Pros probably dont give a shit how their gear looks because their skiing is more than enough to compensate. People just leaning towards function over style?

yeah i get your point. wearing them over is obviously more comfortable and practical since it was designed that way, I know that I find my helmet working it’s way up my forehead if i’m hauling ass, though I also think that pros still do care a lot about their kits. I have considered that the brand is having them wear it on top, maybe to show off the band more? Though if I skied a lot of intense and fast terrain I would wear them over, even tho I don’t like the look haha

I started wearing em over my helmet because the integration between my goggles and my helmet works better that way, and now that we have to wear masks in line, I can put up my goggles so that they don't fog up.

goggles over with no earmuffs is the waave

Goggles? wtf are those?

I switched back and fourth like 3 times today cause my goggles were fogging but my head gets kinda cold with goggles over so I switch back once the fog is gone.

I had to remove a Boa system from a helmet to get under to work for me. Then this year I'm back to over because I'm always lifting my goggles up.

All ima say is youre over thinking it. Do what you like and is most comfortable to you. Being original is always the coolest

Watch a motocross or supercross race. Count how many riders you see with their goggles under their helmets. The answer will be zero. Under your helmet may “look cool” but it’s stupid.

oh dang I didn't realize we're wearing motorcross helmets now is that what all this "new wave" nonsense is???

Kinda funny to think there's so many people trying to emulate others. Just do whatever you want. The goggles over/under is the dumbest fucking debate ever. Most helmets function better with them over- facts. If you want to wear them under so you look "cooler" (in your eyes) then go right ahead. No one fucking cares. Literally this shouldn't even be something you worry about.

And if anyone gives you shit I want you to look him straight in the eye and tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?

Can we just make this a Christmas Vacation thread? Got what an amazing line that one was.

only reason i bothered posting was cause it was something I started noticing. 5 years ago you wouldn’t find anyone wearing them over and now it’s a common sight. don’t care what people wear as it’s your choice, it just caught my attention and i was curious haha

I wear mine under so when I tomahawk in pow they don’t fly off and get filled with snow

That reminds me, what flavor of Jelly did you get this month?

Boysenberry but I was really hoping for my big fat Christmas bonus to pay for the pool I am putting in. I was gonna fly all of NS out to see it :(

Might have to bust this out in the ski tiktoks debating this lol

I started wearing them under when I was young because I saw all the pros doing it. It seems to me that the style came about because people weren’t wearing helmets and then for contests it was like “just put this thing on for your run” so they put it over their beanie and goggles. Then the style stuck.

I have only really seen the bunch wearing them over. I went on Colby’s insta to see what you were talking about. Didn’t see him wearing goggles over, but that red Oakley jacket he’s got is pretty sick

i’ve begun to switch between over, under, and backwards over throughout the day based on how much the gap it’s causing is pissing me off and what i’m skiing

I'm curious if sponsors care at all. If I were oakley, spy, scott, smith, electric, etc... I would definitely want the strap visible, especially oakley that is so noticable.

I heard something from my local ski patrol that wearing the gogs under the helmet doesn't protect you as much, my coach was trying to find an article or something about it but couldn't find anything... anyone know what's up with that?

that’s what i suspect. saw oakley was doing a shoot w their ski team and most of the dudes had them over. the brand has to be telling them they need to see the whole goggle, right? if not seems like bad marketing lol

I'm 100000% sure sponsors won't give af if their goggles are worn under the helmet.

If I have to wear my low lights, I have to wear them over my helmet. It fits different against my face so they don't fog up as much. My black lens don't fog up as bad so I can wear them under but sometimes i still wear them over. Especially since now we have to wear masks it helps reduce how much things fog up
