Go Pro lens chipping

So, i leave my Go Pro in my ski bag out of its case for about a weekNext time i check it there's a huge chip in the lens!

Advice for anyone with Go Pro's- always keep it in the case

thats around 300$ down the drain

if u have any tips on how to fix a lens that would be awesome haha

i seriously hope that by "out of the case" you mean a small camera bag you got, and that you have a chip in the lense on the waterproof housing....

if that's the case you can get replacement lense kits for uber cheap and even replacement housings for like under 30$

however if you mean by "case" the waterproof housing and put your fragile 300$ gopro camera in your skibag without the WP housing, you're fucked and you should probably care a little bit more about your gear...

every sane person can see how fragile a gopro is outside of the housing and can see that the lense isn't even covered, thus making it extremely vulnerable to scratching.

+ Why would you even take it out of the housing, only moments i do that is to charge/load data or to record things where i need good sound ..... I'd never put it away without the housing tough ...

you can try contacting gopro and see what they suggest, they usually have an awesome warranty service, but in this case it's 100% your own fault to be honest....

Dude... from his first post, and throughout this thread, he hasn't tried to shirk blame for what happened. He is simply asking for help resolving this issue, not trying to point fingers at anything.

Well if you don't mind trying something that could epic fail... I would say fill the chip with REALLY clear epoxy then wet-sand it all the way up to about 2000 grit, then if you're real, real brave I would consider flame polishing it... image quality mightn't ever be the same but it might be good enough to be usable.

that's why i said he should contact gopro and see what they suggest...

or he could try and get a hookup with some kid who broke his gopro but still has a good lense and try to somehow change those lenses ....
