Yeah.. I just heard on the radio, some scientists are saying that its not actualy warming, its cooling we have to worry about... the trends are starting to change again, they say.
 
not really, the warming melts fresh water ice masses and it goes in the salt water and somehow stops it from cycling and freezes it, AL gore is retarded.
 
Yeah, that came up. They were saying that was going to happen, but on a smaller scale for now. Thats normal though, if I remember corectly...
 
They say if the heating continues, the Gulf stream will stop and Norway will get a climate like Greenland
 
I think we have both going on. Warming due to pollution and cooling due to pollution eating away the atmoshpere, thus the coldness of space effects us more.
 
so like, how will that work though? Some people think we will start to have hoter summers and colder winters. But thats not possible at this point cause the average temp doesn't differentiate more then a few degrees + or -. Unless it changes all of the sudden, like, starting now. But thats not how alot of pro global warming people have said it will happen. Its been years and the Average temp still doesn't drasticaly change, even seasonaly...
 
man theres too much shit on this. you wanna know why the world is going to cool down? because of solar output. solar energy output isnt consistant, it fluctutes. if anyone claims global warming is real and a huge threat, get them to answer this: between 1940 and 1970, carbon levels/emissions were rising at almost the fastest rate in the 19th century, but the average global temperature was much lower than before and after this period....how can that be you ask? the solar output was low during this time, whereas now it is high. from patterns observed, solar output is much like a sine graph, and right now it will get cooler again.
 
You have the basic idea. Once this conveyor (sp?) system slows, the weather gets cooler. This could potentially throw us into an ice age within a century.
 
yeah dude, you know your shit, I just looked this up, your pretty much right. So like, the charts people have been using to try and prove global warming are absolute bull shit. Thats fricken gay.

One thing though, the solar output isn't going to be able to change enough to make an ice age (by my calculations... lmk if I'm wrong)

It would take something insane it looks like.
 
my chem teacher has talked about how global warming will eventually spark another ice age. our earth experiences an ice age every 11,000 years (apparently, according to her), and she says we're coming close to encountering another one. she says that the global warming will have a certain influence on ocean currents and the jet stream and cause the earth to go into another ice age. (she related her hypothesis to "An Inconvenient Truth" if you've ever seen it)
 
well it has in the past hasnt it? another thing i always say: picture were in an ice ages many thousands of years ago. we all know the ice ages ended evidently. now picture were in the ice age, and there is no emissions or carbon or any of that junk, and hte ice starts to melt. what are you going to blame that on? global warming? but if its not due to emissions then whats it from?
 
if you want to learn a bit about global warming and read a good book check out "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. All the evidence in that book is completly against global warming.
 
im reading that book right now. michael crichton is a fuckin genius i look up to that guy. ive read about 5 of his books so far and im gona keep reading them

When I went home to Mammoth a few weeks ago, there was a pitiful scarcity of snow...now t I'm back at school in Redlands (southern California), and it fucking snowed HERE a few days ago. That's right, there was snow on our palm trees. Local orange farmers are losing money because they can't maintain their crops with the cold temperatures. Something's fucked.

90% of the sun beams that shine onto the ice caps is reflected back upward, but they are starting to melt so now the sun is warming the water and melting the ice, this rush of ice will stop the oceanic cycle in turn creating another ice age. Its not too hard to understand. Pollution causes high tempatures, melted ice makes more water, throws off the oceanic current and causes an ice age.

Don't say 'scientists have proven it' cause they haven't. For all we know there could have been more then. Our testing/dating methods are mostly crap...

there is in fact a way to get an idea of how much Co2 there was in the atmosphere 100s of millions of years ago.
 
actually i went to red lobster for the first time in years yesterday, it was quite nice.

i highly recomend the ultimate feast, you get a little bit of everything.
 
Funniest thing i've heard all day. That book was a novel. I'll choose to believe the overwhelming consensus of people who devote their life to studying climate change.
 
michael crichton bases lots of his books on true facts, but then again if you havent read any of his material that just sort of rules out your arguement. plus where do you think michael got this information? from people who devote their live to studying climate change! what a coincidence!
 
clearly you havent done your research. EVERY scientist makes such a big deal about it because of the two sides of global warming: the solar and greenhouse gas theories. both have a prominent effect on the climate. greenhouse gasses were shown to increase the global temperature (est.) at 0.2 degrees farenheight per year with emission levels at those of the 1970's (period of highest use of emissions). that is what pollution contributes to it. but such issues as deforrestation and albedo are overlooked. believe it or not but deforrestation actually has more of an effect on the heat of a climate than emissions, because of surface albedo. its not me vs every scientist and i hate when people say this because it just shows that you have no idea what your talkuing about. where do you think i got this information? from books and scientists (no michael crichton is NOT my only sorce, i have 2 other books which i forget their names and online grolier encyclopedia, which is 100% legit). so you can make it a judgement call. ive done my research, and through what ive discovered, ive found that the sun, most valiant source of energy in our solar system will have more of an effect than some stupid greenhouse gasses. the only reason we should be worried about emissions is that its bad for peoples health. like i said: picture yourself in an ice age before any form of technology. the ice is beginning to melt, how do you explain that? there is no global warming to blame it on, only the sun. thats what i believe is causing the significant change of climate temperature right now. honestly dude, know your shit before you call someone out

Look guys...

Global warming is going to affect the Atlantic jetstream and cause warmer air to slow down, this will cause places like London and Paris to see snow as much as Boston does.
 
Exactly...the jet stream and other wind patterns that keep the current earth's weather in motion will slow or stop altogether and wind will no longer bring in warm air, thus causing cold air to settle and be cold in places like Florida and the Middle East.
