I'll be backpacking through Glacier for 7 days in mid June, and I would love to know some must-see areas as I've never been there. I've already been told about McDonald Lake, and the lodge near the lake.

Literally everyone I've talked to that has been there says it is their favorite place in the world, so I'm pretty excited to see what all the hype is about.

Do some hikes up on Logan Pass, or at least go up to the top and explore a little bit. Any of the hikes up there will give you incredible views, even the popular, easy ones. Be prepared for lots of tourists, but you'll understand why everyone goes up there as soon as you start driving up the road. I live 30 minutes away and I don't go there nearly as much as I should, but it is one of my favorite places in the world. you'll fall in love with the place right away.
 
Glacier is like the Disney World of national parks, perfectly picturesque, but lots of traffic. Be prepared for trail closures due to bear activity. If you are trying to get a no reservation tent site in one of the established campgrounds you gotta be on the ball at dawn; even better would be to find a site the night before (prepay and tag it then) where people are leaving the next day.
 
I love Glacier! Spent a long weekend camping there and would kill to go back. Haven't done enough to recommend specific hikes, but I will say that swimming in Lake McDonald was freaking crazy. I've never been in clearer water, I swam out pretty far and could still see to the bottom.

We camped at Sprague Creek, I don't think we had a reservation but somehow we made it happen. It was dope because it wasn't a very large campground and it was right on the lake.

I haven't spent much time in Glacier (really only driven through it), but will say that the Going to the Sun road is hands down the coolest drive I've ever done. If you do it, go early (I think we started before 7) so there almost no traffic and you can get some cool shots.

It's'on the other side of the park from lake MacDonald but I would recommend the Many Glacier area for the hike up to Grinnell glacier, it is easily one of the most scenic in the entire park, and easy enough to do in a day with some time to spare.
 
I just got an insanely wide angle lens for my camera so I'll make sure to take tons of pictures. I'll be camping in the backcountry every night I'm out there, probably taking day hikes all over.

Is there a good area drop-dead-center of everything awesome that I'd be able to stay?
 
I grew up in Kalispell but have since moved away and miss it everyday! Glacier is such a special place! Definitely check out the Middle Fork of the Flathead river, and McDonald creek. The Bob Marshall Wilderness next door is less crowded and more secluded. Where is Literature? He is the king of Glacier and could tell you everything you need to know!
