Yeah, I know I am not as good as the guys, I don't care because most of them have been skiing their whole lives while I've only been skiing just over a year. And, I'm trying to get as good as them.

I was not dissing Ashley's style. Just saying she is not as good as the pro's who are guys. That's it. Also, girls suck, and don't come to their defence and say that they don't suck. Because compared to all the pro guys, the pro girls lick fucking balls.

yeah! i think its great that more girls is comingto our sport! but I think its to easy for girls to get sponsored. A girl in my area is full sponsored by dynastart and all she does is some 540s and slides rails normally. but we guys ahve to work our asses off just to get half sponsored. many of my friends who does misty7s, cork7s,bio7s,d-spin7s and plenty of rail tricks arent even sponsored at all...

well look at how large the field is ^ wah wah girls get sponsored too easily... look how many young girls are skiing (park or not) compared to guys. its hugely different and therefore the level of ability will differ as well to be considered as "good".

 
This whole thing has always confused me. Iv actually been thinking about it a lot recently.

When it comes to sports that are truly physically demanding, for example, sprinting, there is a clear reason why men may surpass women and require different groups of competition. The reason for this, clearly, is that men have an array of physical factors that weigh in thier favour from birth.

Skiing, however (in the park) is by no means physically demanding!

Someone made the arguement that the womens field in skiing is much smaller than the mens, so there has not been as much opportunity for tallent to appear, but as far as I see things, there is one field, independant of sex. There are lots of young kids out there who have barely hit puberty who are destroying shit in the park, and they have physical builds similar to a lot of girls. So i dont think that is any excuse (including center of gravity.. more fragile.. blah blah blah).

My theory (and feel free to argue, or disagree with it, its just my own conclusion) is that women, in general, have a different mentality than men. Most girls that ski that i have encountered (with one exception) all have this attitude. Its the one that sounds like "i dont know if i can do that.." "it looks too big.." "that looks too hard" "you guys go ahead and hit it" .. it just seems like a lame excuse to play it safe. The same goes for style, its a good excuse to not work on it.

Do girls really think skiing is easy for guys and that girls have some sort of unempathetical difficulty that guys dont understand? Wake up! its just as hard for us!

I think sashac actually has a good attitude about things. Instead of doing the stereotypical "you go girl.. that was sooo good" (when it wasnt) thing, shes just looking at it like it is. I dont know her or anything, but from what iv seen in the media on here, she is a lot better than most of the females on this site, probably because she doesnt use her sex as an excuse to not try. I think she deserves a little respect for moving girls skiing in the right direction.

Shes been skiing for a season and a half and is already one of if not the best girl park skier in BC, which says alot not only for her talent, but for the overall riding level of girls.

In response to MikeLa, I completely agree, the disparity between girls and guys skiing definitely has to do with psychological reasons. Girls get scared more easily, and I don't know why. This is why the female side of the sport progresses slower.

Personally, I watch my guy friends who have worse technical skills than I do try more balls out tricks because they have no fear. I wish I could be like that.

Girls CAN charge just as hard asbthe boys...period. I have had the pleasure of skiing big terrain with ladies such as Burge and watched her stgt up kill it. When I watch PRE_PUBESCENT punks spin 10s and go 15 feet out in the pipe I wonder why cant girls do that. After all a pre-pub boy is a GIRL.

I think that this is a really interesting thread and i have to say that i agree. why aren't girls better? it's not like we're physically handicapped. maybe we can't be as good as t-hall, but it seems to me that we can be better than thirteen year old girls. one idea i have is that maybe girls think to much and are more worried about getting hurt so they can't commit like the guys can. i'm not that good on jumps but i know that if i didn't over analyze i would go bigger... i'm trying to not think so much, and i am getting better. so maybe we girls just have to ignore our brains for a little while and go for it.

MikeLA you make legit points but i dont necessarily agree with you. I think a lot of girls just don't have the drive to do the whole freestyle thing. I don't think it's that they think "it's too big." we just don't have the testosterone pumping through our bodies pushing us to go bigger and better. I think our mentality is different because we just arent as competitive. Physically the only thing different is muscle
