I have to write a paper for my gender inequalities class and the topic i was assigned was tattoos on girls.

I'm going to write a paper on how tattoos are becoming more mainstream, and less taboo. If you could post about your tattoo, what it is, where it is, and why you got it, that would help em out soooo much. Also, if possible, include pictures. I can put them in the paper to take up space, as it is a 10 page paper

also, if youre planning on getting a tattoo, you can include that too.

Thanks soo much +++K for anyone that helps.

Little backgroundI got the idea of getting a tattoo when I was about 16 . My first year in college I was studying drawing and I met a girl ( that is now a tattoo artist herself ) and she was really good at drawing. She drew it up for me. It was a big step because it was my first and it covers my entire back.
MeaningI think its very important for a tattoo to have a meaning for you . Not necessarily to everyone. The tattoo actually matches the curve of my spine initially before I got all the work done on my scoliosis. Each time I did a step forward in recovery I got part of it filled in. The one on my foot was done a year later. Meaning of the mind set I had everyday into recovery.
My parentsThat christmas we had a conversation about tattoos around the diner table. They had no idea at the time that I had one. My mom said she though tattoos were for people that are searching for answers and constantly looking for who they are. My dad said , its for prostitutes and gang members.
MyselfI see it more like art. As a window to your mind. Showing off what you think, What you've been through. What you like.
TodayI think people are starting to get that its more of a form of art.
I hope this helps.

I love this!!! Love your ink. It's really beautiful, and I love the meaning behind it. As another female with severe scoliosis, I considered a tattoo that would symbolize my struggles with it, too, but decided against it. I want to see photos when it's completed!

I've got several, but I'll just discuss my main ones:

The bull shark on my left lower leg was done in 2006. I got it not only because I love sharks, but because the gashes symbolize how sharks have been around for 550 million years, yet humans have come along and completely decimated their populations in a short period. They've been through a lot of shit, yet they still fight to stay around, like me!

On my ribs are a silky shark, white-tip reef shark, a blue spotted stingray, a green spot nudibranch, and a reef scene. I've been pretty obsessed with Elasmobranchii for the past fifteen years and eventually want to be a research biologist studying sharks/rays.

The rib piece is connected to a mountain scene on my back of Hatcher Pass, Alaska (where I grew up skiing) as seen at night with the northern lights through a frost-covered window. Pretty self-explanatory. I've always wanted a tattoo on my back because I have extremely severe scoliosis, and people would always gasp in horror or whatever when they'd look at my back. I wanted them to look at it and see something beautiful, and so there you have it.

My right arm has a black and grey sleeve. My upper arm has another mountain scene with a river, but it's of fall (hunting season). It's from a photo I took while on my moose hunt, and it's currently incomplete. There will soon be a moose on the inside of my bicep. There are three sets of footprints through the woods along the bank of the river (not shown in photos) that symbolize my three brothers who were shot and killed by their mother on March 16, 2004. Their last name was Woods. I like symbology more than words and numbers for tattoos. The river flows down my arm and zooms in to show sockeye salmon jumping upstream on the Kenai River up my forearm. Alaska is obviously very important to me.

Ha well, these photos show my tattoos the best, I suppose.

i didnt say it was a credible assignment..... like i said. Its for 'Gender Inequalities'

Thanks for the responses so far. The most important part is the meaning.

This is a cool paper assignment, better than the one my teacher had me do, she asked us Ecuador we were reading one of the tales in the Canterbury tales and it was the knights I think, we had to ask women of three different generations what they desired most in a man and why? So stupid assignment and awkward to ask girls but fuck it I don't care, and hopefully ur paper gets better than my C+ I got haha
