GIMP Help

ok so i am trying to download Gimp onto my macbook and failing miserably.... Once it downloads it will not open, the icon jumps a bit then disappears. It wont even let me change into x11 or what ever my comp needs to be in for this.

Anybody with experience with Gimp for mac wanna help me out??

yea thanks man. I meet all the requirements and when i try and install the x11 app my comp says i am already updated with that software...
