GH2 Users of NS

I would really really really like to know your C1, C2, and C3 settings because for some reason I believe I have a setting on the gh2 that makes my image incredibly dark. For example, I put the dial on M with a aperture of 5.6, shutter of 60 and iso 160. I then switch to my C1 setting which has all the same settings supposedly as M but the image is way darker.

I can make a quick demonstration of this in a video if some one can't help from this its just really bugging me that my custom menus are basically unusable.

Thanks!

do the iso, shutter and aperture change values when you change modes or do they stay the same and the image is darker and how much darker is it in C1 than M.

They stay the same...and say the image looks good on M at 3.5 aperture, to make it match the darkness in C1 mode the aperture would be way greater than an aperture of 22...which is a high as the lens goes

could just be a different picture profile. How drastic is the difference? Like multiple stops of exposure?

That sounds weird. I'd re install the stock firmware (you can download it from their site, then put it on a mamory card and install it from there like you would a hack) and see if that solves it.

does the gh2 have an exposure shift feature? could be that your user profile has the exposure shifted.

Dude... Go look at your settings and look for exposure compensation and make sure it's at 0

c1 24p cinema, custom film mode (I forget atm), shutter on 50

c2 HBR, standard/custom (i switch from time to time), shutter on 250-320, iso 160

c3 702/60 (rarely use because I love the 1080 intra), standard film, 250-320 shutter, iso 160

usually I only use c1 or c2, haven't used c3 in forever, also only do K for white balance, and I usually shift it slightly (i think 2 red when I do custom film). I will probably do something for photo settings in c3, or maybe start doing more slow-mo

Also meant to add that I always do full manual exposure and overlay a histogram. make sure you learn the menus. it is a bitch at first, but take a few days, and it will pay off. To answer all the other questions in this thread, set it to manual exposure, and then use the exposure meter at the bottom. Just to give you an idea, for skiing on a semi overcast day, you can usually use f8, shutter 250-320, iso 160 and get good exposure. As a general rule, when it is sunny they say f16, and set your shutter to your the inverse of your iso (iso 160=1/160 shutter). This should give you a good place to start. I wish I had more examples to post (nothing on my profile is from the gh2), I have a few in progress, but its finals week.

you guys are the best...I will for sure check the exposure comp. and thanks p.hawks for the advice, it will surely help!

no problem man. If it would help you and some people out I can make a little guide on setting up and using the gh2 if you like the videos when I finish them. I have had mine for about a year and a half now, and I have followed all the hacking from the start. I get confused with some stuff, so I know it must be confusing for some of the newer guys

you cannot fathom how helpful that would be...I was hoping to find a video or guide like that for the gh2, but none of them seemed to include everything
