Getting Sweet Deals

Anyone know if it's alright to email a company about a pro deal type thing? I'm an instructor at my local hill and won some shit due to customer satisfaction ratings and creating advanced students. Would it be chill to email companies asking for like smallish discounts on goods so that I can show them off to students who will buy them so companies profit. Or will companies just be like "who the fuck is this bitch, asking for discounted shit???". Any tips would be sweet too.

Most companies should be willing to hook you up with some small discounts. Also check if your mountain has promotive, most mountains have access to getting their employees on it and there are tons of companies on there that all have pro deals

Show them what you can do for them, see what they can do for you. What do you have to lose?

It'll be easiest to start with a local shop. Tell them what you plan to do, and have every customer that you send to that shop drop your name. That way you can get hard data on how much business you're sending through the door.

A company/shop wants you to have some sort of ability to track your success. Proposing the above will do that, and if you're not successful they can just pull your discount.

The same thing should go for a company but it'd be harder to track your effect on their business.

I'ld recommend not contacting the company unless you know someone at the company.

Imagine if every person who wanted a deal sent a message asking. It would be chaos.

Typically ski areas have reps. Usually someone already working at the resort. There will be a few companies that your area is already dealing with. Ask your management. If they aren't sure, then ask a manager at a retail shop at your area or someone from rentals/demos.

NOTE: A lot of proforms have caps on how many products can be ordered and they will start with higher ups and worth their way down. I remember when I worked at Mt. High... there were so many people after proforms that you pretty much only had access if you were level 3 or had been there 4+ years.

IF your mountain isn't working with the company you are after, your next best move is to figure out what shop in your area carries the product and ask them if they have any access to proforms. Explain your situation. Sometimes shops even have deals for ski school/coaches/ski patrol.

IF you still can't get a proform that way, ask very kindly if you can be put in touch with their rep. Sometimes the rep will be super rad and the store will be fine with it, sometimes it's someone with a strict budget and not a lot of flexibility and it won't happen.

If you still don't have access, go to social media. I promise the company reads what you say, however they wont want it to be to obvious otherwise they'll get a ton of messages asking for free product. Dont just casually ask. Explain why you like the company and why you want to represent them. Then kindly ask.

I already have a proform through my local shop and get prodeals through them with major companies like Line, K2, Salomon, Smith, etc. What I want try to do is get a small discount from smallerish time companies like KittenFactory, Revision and ON3P. I feel like the worst they could do is just say no so I'll give it a try.

Revision prices are already low so I don't think your gonna get a discount from them...at least not now. Also Kitten factory is having a pre order sale on the skis right now. But my friend did email them and I think he got a 5% or 10% off discount. At least that's what he told me. As for ON3P I'm not sure. They definetly have the highest prices out of all 3 companies mentioned so it's worth a shot. But ON3P has great customer service and super nice people when I asked them questions. You really just never know. But what if they do say no? It's no big deal. Just send the email and be nice about it.

Your best bet would be to go to your local shop. Companies often offer discounts to instructors and patrolers but only do so through shops. Basically they would sell the gear to the shop at a discounted price and they shop passes that discount along to you.
