So im a racer and want to switch to freestyle. What should I get for gear and skis and such? People have been telling me about line skis? Are they good for starting? Thanks

i've seen all the shit you post your a troll.

He is new. learn the interwebs

op yes lines are a wonderful begging ski i would recommend chronics or master minds depending on what you would want to do more.

take a look a armadas to

Go with LINE skis, for sure.

The Masterminds are great for learning and progressing and trying new tricks, and eventually moving on to more advanced skis, like the Armadas

What makes you think I am a troll. I only though OP was because his name and sig refer to racing, which are generally dissed on NS. I probably jumped to a poor conclusion.

Visit a local store. Say that you've had expereince in past as a racer. Tell them that you want to start doing freestyle and they will recommend you with the best beginner equipment. You can ofc choose what kind of skis you want, but I wouldn't choose the most expensive to begin with. You don't have to buy jibbing boots either, just start out with your original riding boots. When the guys at the store ask you where you want to mount your bindings, just answer that you want a center stance for riding switch and doing jumps better. Start training on the slopes doing jumps and riding switch, once you getter better you can upgrade your equipment. Good luck.
PS! It's much more fun beeing a freeskier, rather than a racer. ;D

Thanks! I know it looks like so much fun! I hate racing so much I like never want to race I always hit little side jumps and stuff during tranning haha

And don't worry about people telling you that you should go back to racing, you suck, etc. Just work on progressing and learning as much as you can

hi racer steeze freestyle is a great an enjoyable sport. you should also look into competing in fun and laid back events like usasa or jib academy once you have some basics down and youre comfortable with your skiing ability. also there is a chance you will be really good at pipe because racing helps with pipe in terms of being able to edge into the walls and carry speed. good luck!

god damn NS mobile. anyway, probably the best advice for you now is not to buy a new pair of skis, go on craigslist or the buy/sell threads and find some cheap used ones because learning rails is the best way to ruin your skis. Then once your better after a season or two buy some new ones for yourself. Also, don't expect the best advice from NS on more basic beginner questions, instead of creating threads search it. your answers are on here, just need to find it
