Getting shops to stock different skis

I live on the east coast and id really like to shops near my mountain to carry a wider range of ski brands like surface, moment, liberty or faction. i know i could just go in there and say to the manager "hey start selling surface skis" but i dont think that would work. is there an easy way to get more brands in the shops or is it a hopeless cause on my part.

talk to reps see if they can help out. try to get some sponsored events by the companies you want at your local hill. other than that theres nothing you can really do. if the shop doesnt think they can sell those skis they probably wont even want to try.

My buddy works at our local shop and we just walked over to the guy who runs over to the place and explained that he cant just sell K2, Line and Salomon. We told him he should stock Armada and sure enough the next season we saw Armada's in stock

what sucks for me is most of my local shops are pretty gaper oriented and don't carry skis above 176 or so cms because shorter skis are better for gapers or something, i guess. and most people aren't 6'3''

The goal of any business is to make money. This is no different for ski shops. Show the manager or any person high up in the business why it would be beneficial to the shop to carry different brands (how they're going to make money from selling those brands). That's your best bet. Good luck.
