Getting new boots

so my local shop carries around just Nordica and Fischer, and they have Nordica Double Six of last season (or even the season before) they're selling for 230 euros..except for that- they don't have any other boots anywhere near the range of freestyle..

i'm heading to Val Thorens, france in January and considered buying myself boots over there (FT/Nordica/Dalbello probably) but that would probably start at around 300 euros..

my budget doesn't go much above 300 euros.. so what do you say? take the double six or buy some other boots in the resort?

I'd say if your current boots can last wait untill you go to Val Tho. The larger range of boots will ultimately lead to a better fit as both you and the boot fitter have more variety to work with, when finding the right boot for you.

Just get fitted by a reputable bootfitter... A boot that fits will give you more comfort and performance than any 'freestyle' boot on the market.

Just spend some money on your boots and fuck budgets. Boots are your n1 equipment

what i forgot to mention was that the double six felt really good on my foot...but i'm still not sure..i mean probably a larger variety would be better to fit the perfect boot for me. but on the other hand- just around 350 is the most i can afford :(

As long as you aren't fitted into them by a proper bootfitter the feel of a boot wont be of great value.

I mean as you don't have any knowledge about boots or the proper fit of boots yourself (no offense) a size bigger SPK would prob also feel great

And about the 350 euros, I'd rather find a way to get a higher budget and get properly fitted by a reputable bootfitter than ending up buying another pair of boots because they dont fit you right.

I believe that there are only two reasons that anyone skis in bad fitting boots : completely insensitive feet or a poor level of skiing

You might be lucky that the nordica's are indeed the boot that suits you but I doubt it as youve only tried on boots of two brands.

Thanks :)+ another question: should the boot last be exactly as my foot last measures or is it ok to be +- 2mm from it..

I'm guessing a wider last would feel a little loose but considering there's a break-in on the liners anyway, would narrower be a problem? (my feet, measured with ski socks on, have 102mm last. so does that mean go strictly for 102mm last boots or would 100mm be fine as well?)

self measurements are bound to fail.

Look a bootfitter isnt an unneccesary luxury and if you do some research on this forum you'll find that 99% of all "what boots to get" threads get the same answer : go to a bootfitter.
