Getting hot while skiing

There’s all these threads about staying warm while skiing but nobody ever seems to talk about getting hot. Like how the fuck do some people wear full on shell jackets when it’s above freezing. Like it’ll be low to mid 30s and i’ll still be in a t shirt. Anybody have things they do to stay cool while on the hill?

I ski really hard, like to the point im out of breath and about to puke at the end of some runs so I run really hot. I usually rock a long sleeve synthetic base layer and my ski jacket over that. I make a point to open my pit and thigh zips at the top of the run then zip them back in the lift line and it helps a lot.

Well I can't speak for everyone, but I keep all this shit in my trunk, check the high temp of the day (farenheit), and follow this method gearing up:

-30 to -10 : base layer, core sweater, core jacket, high performance shell.

-10 to 20 : base layer, t shirt, core jacket, high or low performance shell.

20-40 : base layer, t shirt, low performance shell (wind or clouds) or hoody (sunny)

40-50 : just a long-sleeved shirt

50+ : bikini top with a light jacket stashed closeby

Gloves? Rotate between 3 pairs (really cold, cold, warm)

Pants? Just don't even wear them.

good breathable fabric and zippers OP. with a TShirt under I could probably rock my nice shell in 60 degree weather. shell has no insulation. everyone has their system though. I wear a hood a lot when it’s kinda warmer because that’s when you get tree bombs

i’m the same way and i just wear one layer to solve the problem but i’m probably just wearing the wrong layers when i don’t

Leave ur jacket open on the lift, temp is just right once ur at the top, ski down and when ur hot on the lift line from that run, just repeat.

Problem solved?

Just wear something really breathable. Unless you live in PNW or northeast where it rains and shit most jackets are a scam.

you’ll be cold the first lift up and then warm the rest of the day.

that’s what i’m saying, i ski in PA and i only wear the jacket every once in awhile

i just use my powder skirt to keep my jacket from flapping and rock it unzipped the whole day unless it’s cold as tits
