anyone have tips on getting good video at night, with a decent qual point and shoot, in an environment where lighting cant be controlled? (night skiing mainly) my night shots always come out terrible quality. I know its mostly me bad camera, but any tips for camera settings, post-production or any other tips would be great. heres an example of the current bad quality footy.
(wont let me embed)

ps. how does the gopro hd perform at night? +k

Point and shoot, meaning digital camera? Or like, just a little handycam? Either way, if you can, first open the ND filters/Iris, then if you have to, drop the shutter speed and raise the gain (I don't know if you can do these, things, its what I do on my camera).

Concentrate as much light as you can on your subject. When I film night seshes, I don't light the inrun at all. We usually have about 4-5 construction lights (lawl ya, lighting a scene with construction lights) and I focus them all on various sections of the 20 ft box. That lights my shots fine.
