Getting balls

Was there an age where everything just clicked for you, Where you could just send stuff? I like to consider myself a good skier I can ski almost any terrain without thinking but as far as park I’m not, I can’t do some of the crazy stuff I see friends and other people do and it kinda annoys me. Will it come at some point or is it just like natural talent? How can I get some balls?

It's seems a little obvious but just doing things even when your scared will build confidence. Start small and work your way up

For me it wasn’t an age thing but there’s a break through point with skill. Like at some point tricks become a lot less scary to try and easier to learn. I think it has mostly to do with fundamentals and comfortability on features. Like rails, once you learn all 8 swap 2s out, you can pretty much do any combo because you now have the tools to make it happen. And as far as scary trick, there’s not much more you can do but try them. You’ll see though that as song as you know what to do, it’s pretty hard to get hurt

Actually yes, I’ve got most of the rail basics and am no longer scared of rails. Realized medium jumps aren’t shit and am hitting them switch now. Idk I also don’t get hurt very much so maybe that’s why I’m not scared rn

Everyone is scared at some point, just have to learn that it is natural and become accustomed to the feeling. On a personal note I was really scared of rails at the beginning, mostly because i didn’t know how to come off of them. Once I learned the proper way to exit them it allowed me to try bigger ones without a fear of falling. Now I can practically do any rail without fear because I know that if shit goes wrong I can always bail after a couple a feet of sliding.

Just try and always stay slightly outside of what’s comfortable, it’s just lots of baby steps

It's like a muscle. You exercise it, practice using it and you get stronger with it.

dont listen to this guy, rumour has it he payed the dew tour judges for the dub

Your body did not evolve over tens of thousands of years to be in the air. Its a completely unnatural state and a lot of fear we have in the park comes from our body not knowing what to do in the air. Improving your comfort in the air is called 'Air Sense' and the more you do it the easier park will become. The two easiest ways of doing this are on trampolines and pools with diving boards. Tramps are more accessible but diving board are a more realistic replication of an actual ski jump as you have a specific take off and landing. You can also land on your head in the water and it will hurt a little but you wont injure yourself like a tramp.

Bro fr I feel you. My friend can’t backy on a tramp but sent one on skis. He can’t scarily do it consistently cuz he has no awareness. But I got every axis on tramp and almost dubs on all other than bio. But I get to scared to do it into an airbag. Lmk what you do to do it.

Also if you just do a backy it should all come fast. It’s like that one mental block

I’m a rail skier at heart but once I learned all 8 it changed the game for me, other than that it’s just been a constant, steady progression. But things kinda did click i guess ever since I got my drivers license and skied 5-6 days a week for 3 years straight. Having a summer setup and actually trying shit on it and hitting it consistently will also put you above most around you at your hill lol

Time on snow is important. Keep a strong mindset and force yourself to always be trying something new/something you’re rusty at or perfecting stuff you have on lock. Whether that be lapping with the crew on a Saturday afternoon or a random rainy Tuesday night solo lapping at the hill. It’s pretty fun and rewarding.
