I definitely get this. I think it's because it's way more brutal when you're eating it constantly on ground than on snow.

That and you can't just go for a couple of laps on groomers to clear your head.

I fucked up building mine. Made the tranny too quick and the lip too steep. Instead of doing the logical thing and fixing it, I just hit it and get pissed when I eat shit. haha It's actually pretty funny to watch the footie later though.

I have a shotgun rail which makes balancing much harder, I can't lock in or set spins as easily. Also speed is a major issue since I only have 15ft of natural hill for an inrun. I don't have a hose either so I have to fetch buckets of water every 15 minutes to keep speed.

Its also really repetitive trying the same trick on the same rail for hours, day after day. I definitely had some gnarly freakouts this summer haha

Everyone who has posted in this thread needs to take a deep breath when they are enjoying a beautiful backyard session that they have worked so hard to create.

this is about 1/4 amount of tries and bails we actually had. safe to say that I've never had a more happy and angry summer ever.

i sorta like the by-chance juxtaposition of the ad for jeremy jones' HIGHER in front of your video. goes from huge spines and vertical faces to a backyard rail. but then, jeremy jones is from like cape cod or somewhere and got his start building little shit at the golf course or whatever like so many of us did, and edge control is edge control...skiing's a funny sport

Took me an unusually long time to realise you were talking about getting angry at your summer setup, not drunk at its location...

Oh yeah I get pretty frustrated riding my summer setup. 8/10 it takes me a while to land the trick I have in mind, and the fact that I have to take off my skis, throw them on the top of my drop in, climb a ladder, clip in, makes it all more frustrating when I miss a trick. But at the same time if I didn't had one I wouldn't be able to practice rails year round.

Last week i spent 2 hours being pissed and muttering, "This is bullshit" under my breath trying to get a certain trick. Finally got it but haven't been that frustrated skiing in a long time lol.

The most frustrating thing is sometimes it feels like i'm DEproggressing and forgetting the shit i learned. All in all it is fun just take it too seriously sometimes.

Yup. This edit took me 3 days to make, about 5-8 hours each day (Not exaggerating)

somewhat of a threadjack; but did I fuck my summer setup up by making it a down rail? I feel like it's harder to learn stuff on rather than a flat ra (it's mildly steep)

definetly...also, my summer setup was really made for the winter so i just have an old plastic skateboard ramp covered in turf thats not stable at all and a pvc thats supported by scrapwood that is way too short. Because the rail was too short, i just built a 15' double barrel but its too high so i cant even use it in the summer. and on top of it all, I have nobody to ski with because none of my friends are into winter sports as much as i am...because of all this, I throw rages sometimes when im skiing haha

I would say, if most of your rails are downrails at your home mountain, then your setup is ideal for learning tricks and applying them to snow. My Mtn is all downrails which sucks cuz i have more fun on flatbars.

Also imho, i feel downrails are a tad more challenging especially getting 2's on. So i wouldn't worry about it. I mean even if you do want a flat rail they're not that hard to build.

well I can't build a flat rail, because it is sitting on a downward hill

I suck at doing tricks so whenever I go out to try and learn some I always fuck up and get pissed

Me and my friends always hit my summer setup then i just gave up on it .

So damn true , my rail got broken tubes and it is just so slow , i smashed my skis against a wall multiple times

Well, you could. You'd have to make an up rail, then when you put it on a hill it'll be flat.

I hate landing perpendicular to your motion and then just slamming into the ground although grass is better then the ice we have at our park

Haha must be from Massachusetts and yeah I have never been able to get my setup just the way I want it. Try to enjoy it for what it is summer skiing will never be as fun as the real thing.

Yeah haha

I just get pissed about the fact that there isn't any snow yet, and that riding my summer setup is nowhere near the feeling of riding on snow.

It's the beginning of October dude. We still got like a month and a half till snow is even a thought. #wnyprobs

Fuck me man i just got in from the summer jib, I can not land a pretz 450 out, I was out there since i got home from school and everytime I land it I fall over right after, and don't even get me started on back swaps holy fuck I can not get that stupid trick, but at least I was outside and being active :)

I just built my setup and haven't used it yet. Reading this thread makes me worried...

the only time i get pissed while skiing is on my summer setup, its so frustrating to have to climb a ladder every run, deal with rug burn and broken rails, spray it every 15 minutes, etc.

im not complaining though. in the end, my summer setup allows me to do what i love year round

I lowerd the drop in about 15 inches because it was way too fast before now it's gucci. This thing is gonna be fucking PRIME when snow falls

When the "easy" trick you stomped yesterday becomes the hardest trick ever that you spend 20 emotional hours trying to stomp. But it's all worth it when you do.

Poles on a summer setup or no poles i go poles

I personally go no poles. On my set up I have to climb a ladder to get to the platform where you drop in. I have found it less of a hassle to not mess with poles, rolling off the top and such.

Poles every time for me. I can't ski without my poles without looking like a jabroni
