so wat should i practice to get good at rails? should i look at my skis whn i get on te rail or at the end? and do my ski edges dig in

there are three things you have to do to slide a rail.

1 jump and spin 90 degrees so your skis are completly parallel to the rail.

2 keep you weight far forward on your front foot otherwise you will bust your hip many time,

3 when you land on the rail keep your skis about shoulder length apart. (if your skis are together keeping your weight on your front foot will be no different then keeping it on your back foot, because your feet are so close.) try slideing a rail that is low to the ground. dont get to mush speed at first just enough to get onto the rail youll speed up when you hit it. balancing is easier at high speeds but at high speeds your skis will speed up so much when they hit the rail there will be a tendency to land on your hip. try it slow on a 8-15 ft rail and work your way up. try boxes first they are easy cause you dont need to be completly parallel. good luck

feet shoulder width or wider, look at the end of the rail always, and if your gonna lean any way lean back. theres nothing worst on a rail then catching a front edge on notch in the rail .

go up to the rail and spin fast as possible till you get on the rail, that it what rails are basically all about now a days, look at candiates corked 820, enough said

this has been asked about a billion times and so many different things have been said, but the only real way to learn how to grind is to find a small rail(preferably pvc to start) that u wont die if u fall, and just go hit it like 200 times a day. everyone has different ways of grinding and keeping centered u just have to find out what feels comfortable for you. u might get some bruises but honestly, u'll never be any good at skiing at all if ur not afraid to get hurt.

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

Way I learned was to spin full 90°, which is usually a bit more than you think at first. You also have to make sure that your feet are about shoulder width apart, and put a little more weight on the front. Look towards the end of the rail, and not down at your feet. When you come to the end of the rail, sort of 'punch' forward and you will come off straight. I can't really describe it any other way.
