Get "Rich" Quick-er Jobs

Hey NS it's been a long time and I come to you for wisdom. The way my schooling is playing out I might be leaving college until next fall after this semester ends and I'm trying to think of ways to make the most of it. I'm thinking this break would be a great chance to get some money in the bank and I'm looking to maximize profits and/or gain worthwhile experience. Any insight into jobs you had, wish you had taken or have heard about would be much appreciated and I'm sure would benefit other fellow newschoolers looking to make a dollar. I'm willing to forego comforts and go anywhere for the next six months if it means better pay. A few jobs I have heard about so far are working on oil rigs, selling products like security systems or pest control and fishing boats in AK but I haven't personally talked to anyone that confirms whether they are decent gigs.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR what are some decent jobs to make more than minimum wage? If any of you are rich or stumbled across gold how did you do it?

Disclaimer: I understand money typically doesn't just come to you and effort and hard work are required. That being said, if I'm going to work hard I might as well get the most out of it right....

Inb4 "just sell coke to high school girls"

Bartender/serving around a resort in the winter can be very lucrative, landscaping/construction in the summer, there are plenty of high paying jobs if you're willing to do the work.

The first few jobs your referring to I like to call "man jobs" and has a huge part to play in the wage gap.

Basically anything outside where you work 60-80 hours a week. Fishing, firefighting, oil rigs etc.. You are in the middle of nowhere so you can't spend your money and you get paid overtime. 40 hours of overtime each week really adds up. Kids from my hometown would do harvest over the summer and you could have weeks that would be closer to 100 hours. Hit a 7 day work week with 14 hour days. Thats some quick cash.

Selling is another great way to make some good money, but most people are not naturally salesmen. This isn't a for sure route for good quick money. It could be tho.

You can work on an oil rig year round, they don't have seasons so you can work til next fall without stopping. A friend who I've since lost contact with works in the oil fields. IIrc it was 12 hour days, 6 days a week, and you will be to exhausted to do anything else. Also make sure you understand that a lot of those jobs are also some of the most dangerous jobs out there.

just go in on the latest pyramid scheme shit bro

God I'll never forget the time when the vast majority of my friends were invested in Vemma. I still call them fucking idiots to this day

Spill Starbucks, get third degree burns, sue, quick 8 mill

Have you seen the pics of the lady who spilled Mcdonalds coffee on herself? She deserved the millions she won in that lawsuit, especially since Mcdonalds intentionally made their coffee super hot so people wouldn't get free refills.

Fishing trollers is actually a real money maker. Depending on the size of the ship, you may need to get a marine safety course (MED) that will cost ya, but you can look at 5-6 thousand cash per month at the least. I work in commercial shipping as an engineer officer and I easily clear 75,000$ in 6 months. Its a full time career with schooling and stuff, but it finances my skiing addiction.

Did you go to maritime school? Merchant shipping is something I've always been interested in.

Yeah, I did a 3 year program at Georgian College in Ontario. Its usually a 4 year program. Its designed for those who has never sailed a day in their lives and admission is pretty easy. There are 2 paths for school; navigation officers and engineering officers. I am sure there is a shorter program for deckhands, wheelsmen and mechanical assistants.

Its a pretty crazy feeling to be responsible for a 80-120 million dollar ship.

This explains why their coffee is always scalding hot, and I always ask them to fill 3/4 coffee and 1/4 ice

oil rigs.

and one of my buddies this summer was working this job for shell where he went around replacing gas tanks at stations. free lodging, food, and nothing to spend your money on cause you're in some shitty town with no friends. sounded like a good short term gig
